Thanks and which OS are you using for your Red?
RopieeeXL.
Anything that can run on a Pi4 can run on Holo Red.
But why run Ubuntu on any Pi for just audio, when something like DietPi and Ropieee can work ?
I have DietPi working perfectly with my 10 channel Focusrite 18i20 Gen3.
Multichannel support for Focusrite got added to mainline kernel last year - anything running kernel 5.15 or newer works now with Focusrite. No additional drivers to install.
Iām running DietPi (kernel 6.2 now) on an RPi4 and Odroid C4 and it works great with multichannel. The Odroid C4 is cheaper than the Pi4 and easier to get in many countries.
I had the same Motu but had issues with sample rate changes. With fixed sample rate (like upsampling) it is fine.
No issues at all with Focusrite.
Yes thanks. Jeff confirmed all my questions directly, via email.
I donāt have any issues with the Motu, especially with Kernels from 5.15ā¦
I rolled back my firmware on the Motu, and its stable as a rock.
The later Motu firmwareās which allowed for Mac OS operation, made some features sketchy via class compliant connection (No issues via Windows with the driver of course).
Anyway, Diet Pi, Ropieee vās Ubuntu is just a matter of preference.
I prefer Ubuntu, as the software runs headless, is easy to install, and is super stable.
I had similar experience to you since Kernel 5.15. Canāt comment on Focusrite, but my Motu changes sampling rates with no issues.
Now the Red has become Roon Ready (sure only in using the RedOS).
The problem is now: You can only use one service at once and (what Iāve done and it was a great option) not for example RAAT and NAA (each using there own output) together.
Ropieee is able to do this, but also the newest version produces some crackling in RAAT or NAA, which donāt occurs with the RedOS.
I donāt expect (they have also integrated hardware volume control) that Holo Audio will change this behavior in the future.
Can you not just turn them on/off on the home page?
I did not touch the SW of my HOLO RED as I was advised not to. Glad I didnātā¦
Which is your current firmware on your Red?
2023.04.15 just checked Burckhardt. Just noticed that there is an update available, which I activated, now it shows as 2024.03.27
There is another Red update in the last week, which when checking off only one streaming service, appears to give a boost in transparency.
Yes, itās nice, that multiple services are coming back with the new Red OS.
But for me NAA stays by 4.5.0.0 and not how described in the release note updated to 5.0.0.0.
Can anyone confirm this?
del.
Can you please move this item to somewhere else in the forum, and not under RoPieee?
Thanks
Iām newbie to DDCā¦Does Holo Audio Red/DDC able to use as Roon bridge out from box with its RedOS or need to use Ropieeeās OS? I currently using Raspberry Pi4 with Ropieee.
You may choose Roon in the RedOS. Make sure you update the software in the Red OS, just in case.
This may be a dumb question, but pricing considerations aside is there any reason that US customers couldnāt order from Magna HiFi to avoid the prolonged wait from Kitsune? Magna seems to keep inventoryā¦
āāā-
I contacted Magna and they canāt ship Holo to the US.
You can try Singapore distributor.
I know Hong Kong distributor can ship to USA
Hi there
Anybody know if the Holo Red will output digital signals on all outputs at the same time? I want to use multiple DACs in parallel.
I have version OS Ropieee xl, both USB and i2s work there at the same time.
