HQPlayer and Multiple NAAs in the House

I think I found out what the problem was. I was poking around the settings and lost the connection to the server and couldn’t connect the Client to it again, it just wasn’t a choice. I use Roon with HQPlayer Desktop and discovered that as long as Roon was running Client couldn’t see the server. As soon as I quit Roon the server showed up in the Client dropdown. Once I’m connected I can open Roon again and the Client will stay connected to Desktop.

Are you on HQPlayer v4 or something? Since this is not the case on v5…

If your question was aimed at me, no, I’m on whatever version of 5 came out recently.

v5 allows unlimited parallel control connections. So it shouldn’t matter what other control applications (like Roon) are connected.

If I choose Local Host the Client disconnects from the Server as expected but if Roon is running the Server doesn’t show up as a choice in the dropdown menu. I also can’t type anything into the dropdown so putting in the Server address isn’t an option either. As soon as I quit Roon the Server shows up as a choice again and once it’s connected I can reopen Roon. None of this is a problem for me at least as it works whether that’s the way it’s supposed to or not.

Server selection is a combo-box with editing capability. So you can just click/tap on the line and type in address or IP. Instead of dropping the list open and selecting something from there.

Except, as I’ve posted several times before, I’m not able to type anything into the box. (not the dropdown) It’s really not worth troubleshooting, it does what I need. You were really helpful when I first started using HQPlayer and had questions which I appreciate but I’m not going to pursue this further, I can use it as is. Thanks again for your help.

Dave-
I had the same issue. If you’re running IPv6 on your network (hey, you might be, I was), try the IPv6 adress of the HQPD instance. After that the IPv4 worked fine for me. Dunno why!

Good luck.
