You can decide which way you prefer sonically. THD is more up to the analog stages following the DAC chip than the DAC chip itself.
There are many other aspects too to the device selection. My travel system is MacBook Pro + iFi xDSD Gryphon + Shure SRH1540. Fits nicely in a backpack, and the Shure headphones come with a nice hard travel case.
