Hello, I’m not able to make Roon play music (sending digital signal to my DAC) because the device I’m using on my Rasp 4 is not listed. Any help? Thanks!
Hey there Alex and welcome from a fellow user!
Starving on information here - you really should take the time to fill in requested information and make your description as verbal as possible.
I’m stabbing in the dark, but have you installed Roon-Bridge on the RPi?
Do you see the RPi in “Settings” “About” tab?
If so, it should also show in “Settings” “Audio”, where you’d need to “Enable” it to finally be able to use it as a “Zone”.
At the very least we will need to know what software you are running on the RPi, how the network is set up, and where the RPi is not listed it is not in (Roon, RoPieee, DietPi, etc??)…???
Basically as @Marin_Weigel said fill out the details so we can attempt to help.
What software is being used on the Pi?
The Ian Canada device uses the WM8805 same as the Allo DigiOne so you can try that for a start. Also try the HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro which uses the WM8804. That should hopefully get you working though maybe not at full resolution.
Hello Henry, thanks for your answer.
I have installed ropieee XL on the Pi 4. I tried to select all the Allo devices and all the HiFiBerry but nothing. I have tried to select many different DAC from the Roon list but it seems that IAN CANADA is not matching with nothing…
To be clear, You keep saying things about selecting a DAC in Roon, but I have not seen you specifically say you selected a Hat in RoPieee. Just want to make sure we don’t miss something.
Did you go into RoPieee WebUI and select a hat?
I only have RoPieee not RoPieeeXL but here is a screen shot:
Thanks bear,
I have reinstalled everything and now something different happens!
I have set hifiberry Digi+ Pro in RoPieee but now there is no way to reach the device from Roon.
I see the correct name I gave to the transport in the “About” tab of Roon but if I try to manage audio devices in Roon it won’t show up.
Thanks for all your help.
That looks like it is recognised but won’t be seen until a DAC is plugged into USB. That is what you would expect, but it also means that for what ever reason (possibly the isolation between the Pi and the HAT) Roon cannot see it as an endpoint in its own right. It might be time to call in Harry @spockfish to see if he can help.
You shouldn’t need anything plugged into the RPi/Hifiberry Digi+ Pro with RoPieee for it to show up in Roon.
I have one sitting on my desk with nothing plugged in except the power and ethernet and it shows up.
Unless you are just saying that the “isolation” is causing it to not show up?
Not sure that it would even be a viable product if the isolation worked so well that RoPieee couldn’t “see” the hat…??
But I agree, if none of the selections in the RoPieee WebUi work it may be time to ask Harry to look into it.
@agniyoga You may want to send feedback from the RoPieee webUI advanced page so Harry has something to look at?
Here are the screenshots so to better explain what’s happening. “ICAN” is the spdf HAT I’d like to use but NOT seen in the Roon audio devices list. Thanks!
