If Roon added ONE dream feature tomorrow, what would it be? (2026 edition)

I mean it doesn’t exist but it should

Ah, got it! It would be nice, yes, it’s really the only thing I do manually since having Roon. That’s actually quite amazing, if one thinks about it… Roon FTW!

This is a good thread, @Leon_snell. I hope it gets Roon eyeballs on it.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply and for the kind words—means a lot coming from someone who’s clearly been around the block with Roon. You’re spot on: flipping to some positivity feels refreshing after years of the same frustrations bubbling up.

One feature I’d like Roon to eliminate is any commentary about an album and/or artist which contains anything other than accurate and verifiable historical information. I’m not interested in any self-styled reviewer’s verbiage. Of course I simply don’t have to read those comments!

The whole thread may be better placed in Feedback

Well fingers crossed this topic gets seen by all those at ROON

I could move it but I asked the moderators for their opinion

You can do this for an album, but what about an individual song in a playlist? If I switch the album, it doesn’t make it available for that specific song in the playlist.

Browse by any string that occurs in any track or folder filename, and in any tag originating in Roon or in the owner’s metadata. Maybe have 3 separate options? This would, obviously, include label names.

Don’t you miss the availability of Discography ?

I would say my listening is 95%+ local but I subscribe to Tidal to see other discs that aren’t in my library . But here in South Africa Tidal costs a mere $4. I have probably < 100 albums added from Tidal in my library but thy are carefully selected to fill gaps

I was just thinking today I would love if roon could let me know about upcoming live performances from artists I’ve discovered/shown interest in that are in my general location

Probably a lot to wish for, but you did say ‘one dream…’

That’s what the Playlist Improver is for, it was already discussed.

This exists, and it’s Songkick integration:

However there are some shortcomings that make it rather not useful:

  • There are no notifications
  • It doesn’t always work for some reason (e.g., I see it for some upcoming concerts but not others right now, although they are all in the Songkick app)
  • It’s at the bottom of the artist page
  • Therefore, chances are that you will never know about a concert in time. (Clearly you never noticed  )

Therefore, you are better off installing the Songkick and/or Bands In Town apps on your phone. They won’t know your Roon artists, but they are great at inferring what you are interested in if you tell them a few favorites.

Yeah, that barely works. For example, I have a playlist with 264 tracks in it, 61 are missing, and there are no improvements offered. I have another playlist with 292 songs, 53 missing and no improvements.

That’s a different problem though.

Ok thanks, I’ve never heard of this, I’ll check it out

Get the phone app(s), they are true life savers (though they make you spend a lot of money because suddenly you know about most gigs in your area, or any other area you tell them)

The only thing I really want is for browsing to not be so painfully slow. When Roon was new, just randomly browsing influences and such was a lot of fun. Now, it is so slow it is painful.
