Describe the issue

Can't access audio zone with mac OS Sequioa

Describe your network setup

Nucleus one, macbook pro, 4 TB SSD, Chord Qutest DAC

Please give rebooting your MacOS Sequoia device a try.

Have you tried deleting the Roon app, downoloading and re-installing?

Hi @Howard_Sambol,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. You noted in your post that this is happening with Sequoia. We have had other users with a similar issue who successfully fixed this issue by checking macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network, make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot the Mac.
Let us know if this fixes the issue for you!

Yes I tried these steps and the issue is the same. When i go to settings and then audio in Roon the items on the screen are jumping up and down. The app is unstable in this area and there is no button for my mac to create an audio zone. Other parts of the network zones are okay but not for my main macbook

I have not tried this yet. If i do this will i need to totally recreate my setup from scratch?

Not if you create a back up first. That would allow you to reload all of your current settings.

I had the same problem, deleted the app from my Mac, reinstalled and all is well, but it has happened more than once, and it does not occur when launching Roon from an iPad. Hope it is helpful.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Problem roon e lumin t2 after up date to sequoia

Thanks, this is very helpful. How much setup did you need to repeat after reinstalling the Room app?

I have a backup, actually a clone of my hard drive but how do i restore the old files? where are they located?

My clone drive is still running Sonoma and has all settings as they were before. i could boot to the clone drive but how will this help?

I simply deleted the app and downloade/installed. I did nothing else.

You don’t clone anything. You use the Roon backup routine to make a backup of your Roon database. It is stored wherever you tell Roon to put it.

Hopefully, you also have your music files backed up somewhere if you ever need them. The Roon backup routine does not backup your music files.

I followed the recommendations. Deleted Room app. Downloaded and installed it again.Launched it.

Everything is exactly the same. When i click on audio inside settings, i get the same exact behavior.

Everything is jumping up and down on screen and on this macintosh there is no way to enable any audio zone.

The display on the audio tab has settled down now and not jumping but there is still no option for audio out on my existing mac. You can see this in my attached pic.

Hi @Howard_Sambol,

Thanks for the additional information and troubleshooting done so far.

If you could, please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon logs from the issue Mac to our File Uploader?

With that, could you also share a screenshot of your Audio/MIDI settings on the Mac?

We’ll be on standby for your reply, thank you!

i have same issue. freshly installed sequoia in 2 different M1 macs. Roon app will fail to detect mac audio devices. Using wired lan or wifi makes no difference. Deleted the RAAT folder and restarted app makes no difference. Restarted ROCK server and i got audio devices and was able to play audio. Then out of the sudden audio stopped and audio devices gone again. Deleting RAAT + restarting roon app + restarting rock server sometimes make audio devices come back and i can play audio for minutes again

Given the increasing number of people who are now using mac OS 15, sequioa, it is unworkable to not have the roon software be adjusted to work with this OS.

Hi @Howard_Sambol,

Roon are working on it, however they need your help to aid understanding what the root cause is, see …

Is this something you can help with?

The best thing you can do is go back to the previous version Sonoma. I also had the same problems as well as some network folders of the internal SSD in my Eversolo that were no longer visible. I put everything back to Macos Sonoma last night and all the problems were gone on my Mac Mini 2018 with intel.
