The Huawei device is the source for the fiberoptic cable so I don’t think the router would have Internet with it removed. And I think I’d need an Ethernet to USB c adapter to directly connect my mobile device to my router, I don’t have an adapter like that unfortunately.
Great, thanks for the support so far and I also hope we reach a solution soon.
We’re essentially troubleshooting why the router’s DHCP is passing 0.0.0.0 to the RoonOS as the DNS server. There’s either a DNS or DHCP negotiation conflict (which would require changes to router settings) or there’s an argument between RoonOS and router settings (which would require RoonOS admin page settings adjustment).
We’ve done a lot of tinkering so far, so let’s make sure everything still agrees:
In the router, set 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 as the primary DNS server. This means it should be ranked above the 192. server in the DNS priority table. Set this same DNS address - either 8.8.4.4 or 8.8.8.8 - as the primary DNS server in the phones as well.
Also in the router, look for the DHCP Lease table, or settings related to DHCP. There is often a list of devices connected to the router that are receiving addresses - verify that the Nucleus One is present in that list.
Lastly, in the RoonOS admin page, switch the Nucleus One back to DHCP and reboot the machine fully.
It would be most helpful if you could then upload a set of RoonServer logs, per the process above. We’ll await these at your convenience.
We’ll watch for your response and thank you again for your patience.
In my Eir fibre box device info page, in General under network it has Primary DNS server: 159.134.0.1 and Secondary DNS server: 159.134.0.2. Primary IPv6 DNS server: 2001:bb0::1 and Secondary IPv6 DNS server: 2001:bb0::2.
The DHCP lease table does have the Nucleus one in it.
I switched back to DHCP and after rebooting I can no longer load the RoonOS server admin page.
I have since then uploaded a set of log files. The file name is markbrennan2000.zip.zip
The router Primary DNS server is now 8.8.8.8 and the secondary DNS server is 8.8.4.4. I have switched my phone’s network connection to static with the same DNS servers. The server is still disconnecting after closing and reopening the Roon app. The Nucleus one is set is DHCP and the DNS server is 0.0.0.0.
Any further support is much appreciated.
If the Nucleus One is set to DHCP, it should automatically receive a valid DNS server from the router. A DNS server of 0.0.0.0 typically means that no valid DNS settings have been assigned, which could cause network-related issues.
It’s odd your router has proper DNS servers set, yet your Nucleus is still having issues.
It may make sense to test out setting a manual DNS setting for you Nucleus. Here’s how:
After you access the webUI of your Nucleus:
Click on the Configure or Edit option under networking.
Enter the current network settings for your Nucleus (IP address, subnet mask, gateway) manually. These can often be found in your router’s settings or your current DHCP lease information.
Specify Custom DNS Servers:
Add DNS servers in the relevant fields. Common choices:
Google DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Save and Apply Changes:
Click Save or Apply to confirm your new settings.
Restart the Nucleus (make sure Roon Server is stopped) and let me know if you’re able to finally connect!
I have done the above and unfortunately I still can’t connect automatically and am disconnected when closing the app on both phones.
Any more help with this is greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear that didn’t help! For each device, what OS are you currently running?
With that, we’re no longer able to enable diagnostic mode for the mobile devices - could you please bring them back online? We’ll request a fresh diagnostic report form each device for further investigation.
The OnePlus Nord 4 is running OxygenOS 15 version CPH2663_15.0.0.601(EX01). The OnePlus 5t is running OxygenOS version 10.0.1.
By bringing them back online do you mean being connected to the Nucleus one? I have connected them just there but I can’t say for how long they’ll stay connected. I generally have been reconnecting as soon as I find them disconnected. The 5t should remain connected for a few hours as I will not use it.
Thanks,
Mark
