I didnāt know my Nucleus had a web page!
Ah. Mine is the smaller version of the OG version.
It would be good to have that built in. Hopefully theyāll get there because neither the One nor the Titan are available in New Zealand.
Some basic admin stuff
Somebody has pointed out to me that the photo in question is of ARC rather than Roon. This is actually made clear in Mikeās original post on this thread. So I take back my comment about it being misleading.
Right. But can anyone explain why Arc can do it but full Roon canāt on the same device?
Whatās the point of running full Roon on the phone at all? You might as well just run Arc on your local network.
Why donāt they just merge the two?
Loving OPRA, great feature.
One question, if I export an OPRA EQ to allow me to tweak it via a manual parametric EQ profile, is the negative pre-gain still ābaked inā? In other words, when exporting is there still no need to apply a headroom adjustment?
They decided originally to develop them separately to not endanger the stability of the regular remote during ARC development, but they didnāt rule out a later merge.
As of now, ARC is still missing features that the remote has, such as Focus, bookmarks, and zones. If you ask me, I expect them to add features to ARC and once itās feature-complete and fully integrated into RAAT and zones, it will become the new all-in-one remote.
Well it certainly looks like the obvious thing to do!
Yes, seems to be.
A quick testā¦
Save the current OPRA preset as a named EQ.
Then switch to a null MUSE, i.e. nothing enabled, and load the saved named EQ under Parametric EQ.
As you enable and disable PEQ, with this saved EQ, thereās a definite change in volume.
edit: oh, and even easier, just load the saved EQ, and click on the RHS āglobalā volume slider, which shows its default position is -6.3dB (in my case), which is the overall pre-gain for my OPRA preset.
Hello I used OPRA for a few days ā a very interesting new tool and I found all the models of helmets and IEMs I own. However, since this morning, OPRA has disappeared ā is there an explanation?
Just used this for the first time. Really enjoyed it as a quickset that spared me endless adjustments and it ājust worked!ā
If possible, could we create a manageable list of IEMs that can be requested?
Iād request the Campfire Trifectas and Empire Ears Tritons. I wish I had a way to measure and post to the github repository, but thatās a bit over my aptitude.
Would also appreciate the feature to switch OPRA profiles from one IEM to the other within the Roon mobile App.
In order to do this you would need to reach out to one of the existing measurement providers and then send in your IEMs to be measured.
I have played but the only niggle I have is the drop in output , I have to increase the Roon volume slider 6-7 notches .
With the volume leveling tech in Roon how difficult would it be to apply to the output of OPRA., in fact does it apply as is ?
I use 100% headphones and donāt like sudden volume increases , I spill my coffee
Answer to my own question, volume leveling is applied before OPRA EQ, is it just an order thing ?
I really enjoy OPRA and it was a overdue addition I used my own PEQ and Convolution filters before but this just makes it so simple to switch between different setups and headphones.
First, thankyou for the feature addition, its fantastic.
I love/appreciate the open source community aspect.
I can see this EQ feature developing and possibly allowing car pre-sets, or linearisation for many types of controlled devices.
However, there appears to be a DSP engagement bug.
If I turn off both ARCās āEqualiser and Headphone EQā, disconnect my headphones, and then reconnect the headphonesā¦ ARC decides to re-activate both the Equaliser and Headphone EQ [without my selection]. This is really annoying, because ARC is re-engaging incorrect EQ settings.
This even occurs, if I disable āallā EQ for the native phone output - prior to reconnecting my Bluetooth device, after having already disabled the EQ on the Bluetooth device.
Surely ARC should be remembering my setting, and not engaging EQ that hasnāt been selected.
Happens every timeā¦
Did you save the preset as thats linked to the headphones you applied it to. So will be applied each time they connect. Works fine for me on my iPhone if I turn off headphone eq then turn off my headphones, when back on and reconnects it remembers what was last set and no eq applied.
I believe OPRA is applying headroom baked in from AutoEq as each one gives a preamp value to be applied to prevent clipping. Unlike manual peq where you need to add it your self. If you use volume leveling as well then you will be getting 2 hits of attenuation. Something they have not accounted for by the looks of it. As you donāt need both Volume levelling and headroom as it normally suffices on its own.
I couldnāt tell from the description or in the interface ā is OPRA using convolution or PEQ? Can anyone clarify?
In any case, I had experimented with EQāing my headphones and IEMs in Roon using settings and convolution filters from AutoEQ several times in the past but was never happy with the sound. Now for the first time, I think I prefer how my Sennheiser IE 900 sound with the OPRA filters vs without. It sounds more natural and balanced. As I had gotten used to my IE 900 without EQ, it will take me some time to readjust and determine if it works well with all types of music that I listen to, but initial signs are encouraging.
I goofed and deleted Headphone EQ but I found it in the Add filter list and re-added.
