ok, no luck with the trying different username/password combos. Those other suggestions are beyond my IT capabilities, and its a real shame, but looks like my Nucleus is going end up on ebay…
Hey @Sari_Tanskala,
My apologies for the confusion eariler. @Geoff_Coupe is correct in that I shared the incorrect information around setting up sharing permissions.
As another test, could you temporarily set up your Mac as your Roon core, and see if you’re able to access the new folder/drive that way? You can do this by heading into your Roon Settings>General and disconnecting from your Nucleus. You can then select your Mac to be used as a temporary Core.
I’d make a backup as well if you haven’t scheduled one recently.
I’ll be on standby for your reply.
I’m affraid I will be away for the next three weeks and won’t be able to try this til early April now.

Hi Benjamin,
My topic was closed, though I did mention that I was going to be on holiday and not be able reply to your suggestion immediately.
I have now done what you suggested and set up my Mac as Roon core and Zen nas is working fine with the Mac…
Hey @Sari_Tanskala,
Thanks for giving that a try! Could you share a screenshot of the network path you successfully set up through your temporary Mac core?
And to confirm, is your Mac connected to your network in the same way your Nucleus is? Hardwired via ethernet?
We’ve also released a hotfix that may help with this issue specifically, and seeing that your Nucleus is on the latest build, you may find success trying to set up the network path this time around.
Let me know
Hi
here’s the screen shot, I’m afraid the zen is there automatically, so I don’t have to add it myself (as I initially used mac as core, before getting Nucleus). Mac is connected over wifi, not hardwired via ethernet (like the zen to nucleus). I checked the nucleus is up to date but, I’m still getting the same problem.
Any other suggestions Benjamin?
Hi there,
at which point is this going to a service issue? I’m keen to get it sorted as my annual subscription is due, and currently am not being provided what bought… Shall I contact my dealer?
Hi @Sari_Tanskala ,
Apologies for the slow response here.
If you right-click → edit for the Zen location, can you take a screenshot of what is listed there and copy that information when using the Nucleus as the Core?
It looks like the Zen address is \\zen\music\flac
without the smb
parameters. Perhaps this is the differing aspect.
Also, you may want to try adding \\zen\music
without the flac subfolder it may be that you need the main folder first and then select the sub-folder.
Do let us know if this helps!
I’ve tried all those combinations countless times already.
When you ask me to right-click then edit, from where to do you mean exactly? In the second screenshot I’ve copied and pasted that of course, as it was initial instructions.
Hey @Sari_Tanskala,
A few things to try - did you ever test out changing permissions on your flac folder so that everyone has read & write access, and try submitting the path again?
Re-reading the thread, do you have an available backup that predates the service date of the Nucleus, that we may try to test?
Are you able to test out hardwiring the NAS directly to your Nucleus?
Hi Benjamin,
I’ve now tried what you suggested (permissions and hardwiring), neither worked. And I don’t have backup that predates the service date…
I think that Roon Labs just silently dropped support for the outdated and insecure SMB protocol version 1 on/for Roon OS. Your Innuos device on the other hand seems to support SMB v1 only (you may want to ask Innuos support for clarification on that).
UPDATE: You can also try and replace the server name (zen) with its IP-Addresss in case there is an issue with name resolution on current Roon OS.
thanks for your suggestions, however this is now going beyond my IT capabilities. I find it interesting that using my macbook there are no issues with the Innuos device.
I either have to give up the nucleus or buy a new nas drive… and hope that that will work with the nucleus…
