Issue with playing hi-res Tidal music in Roon after subscription upgrade (ref#QG5V18) [Resolved with Build 1401]

I don‘t know. I am no expert in HIRES. I just enjoy my music.

I saw in past threads that this was a bug and it should have been fixed, but it is not true.
Tidal tracks at 96KHZ or 192KHZ are played at 44.1KHZ (see examples below).
I tried both with Tidal app and Audirvana and I can confirm that the behaviour in Roon is wrong.

It is being fixed! When it is good to go there will be an update.

I am listening to a tidal Flac track listed as

but if I look at at the the signal path it shows
![Sc

so it seems I’m not getting the file streamed at the correct sample and bit rate I have the stream quality set to high in the tidal config settings. I have tried logging it out and in again is this a known issue or am I doing something or expecting the wrong thing?

Under settings → services, you can edit your Tidal preferences. Are you streaming in max quality?

Edit: maybe it’s related to this issue, which will be fixed soon:

It used to work here, but now the Max setting has disappeared here as well. After my HiFi Plus expired on April 10th and I was billed for 10,99. It worked till Sunday, now it no longer does.

We’ll have to wait for the next Roon update. Which will contain the fix for this issue.

Considering how much we pay for Roon, and the fact that they had lots of notice about the Tidal change I’m really unimpressed (in fact, annoyed) by the Roon response.

A lot of people will be surprised when they see how many of their Tidal albums are still 44.1/16 CD quality even when this is resolved. It’s not a big deal and most can’t hear the difference anyway.

Doing A/B comparisons, I hear a difference in streaming rates on Qobuz (sometimes i like the higher res better, sometimes not) but my point is about Roons efficiency in dealing with the change. So my point still stands.
I want to cancel Qobuz and just have Tidal (having both is getting too expensive for me) but don’t want to do that until this issue is sorted.

We don’t even know what the cause is, so maybe we shouldn’t apportion blame

Deserves more than a heart.
Really excellent work here Connor and the rest of the Roon team for resolving this Tidal max issue so quickly.
As the corporate types like to say these days very agile… I’ll get me coat.
Thank you.

Hi everyone,

Tidal MAX content should now be available in Roon for Tidal subscribers at that tier with today’s release. See release notes here: Roon 2.0.33 and ARC 1.0.50 are live!

Thank you again for your patience and diligent reports concerning this issue. Please post here or in a new topic thread if you continue to experience issues after updating your RoonServer and Remotes.
