Roon cannot play to local line out

Describe your network setup

MacPro 2012 connected to external speaker via line out

Hi, I have a JBL Xtreme 2 bluetooth speaker attached to the MacPro hosting my Roon Server via a cable attached to my line out. (Bluetooth is off.) Setup worked fine before today. When I click Play for this endpoint, playback fails with the message “Too many failures…” However, I can play to remote endpoints. Also, I can play to the local speaker via line out using Apple Music. I have restarted, re-installed Roon, etc. Also, I can play to the endpoint using Roon from a different computer via bluetooth. Stumped!

Hi @MJ_Milloy,

This symptom matches a regression for which we’ve recently shipped a hotfix. This affects older Mac models, and while it’s limited to Big Sur/Catalina, diagnostic logging shows traces associated with your account that indicate this machine has the same regression.
