For many boxed sets, I have used the Comment metadata field to describe each disc. For example, let’s say I have a deluxe edition of Album X with four CDs. For CD 1, I might insert the comment: “Original mix, remastered.” For CD 2, I might comment: “Instrumentals.” For CD 3, I might comment: “Live, London, August 31, 1922.” For CD 4, I might comment: “2025 remix.” With Roon, I would treat the album as a four-disc set. When I open the album in Roon, however, I see no way to differentiate the discs by comment. As a result, unless I happen to remember which disc contains the live material and which the remix, I will not be able to choose which disc to play according to that criterion. Can I set Roon to reveal the comment on each disc as I toggle between them?
When I view a boxed set with the “All discs” setting, Roon will string along all the comments on one line, without differentiating which pertains to which disc. For example: “Super Deluxe, Super Deluxe, Stereo Remix, Instrumental.”
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We completely understand why it would be helpful to see comments for each disc separately in a multi-disc set—especially when you have different mixes, live recordings, or special editions on each disc. Right now, Roon doesn’t display comments per disc, so it can be tricky to identify which disc contains what content.
The good news is that this feature has already been suggested in the Community’s Feature Suggestions section. The best way to help bring this to our developers’ attention is to visit that existing topic and vote for it. Each vote shows how many users would benefit from this improvement, which helps the team prioritize it for future updates.
We really appreciate you taking the time to support this request—every vote counts in helping Roon improve multi-disc album handling.
