Hi @STEPHEN_ANDREWS ---- If there is the possibility of a hardware related issue here there is not much we can do on our end as the software itself will have no forbearance on say, a faulty USB port or potentially struggling HD.
I would recommend trying the following test(s) to see if we can isolate some variables that could be potentially having influence on this behavior:

As mentioned in my previous, testing with the Samsung HD with a different USB port on the Nimitra.

Testing with your DAC connected to a different USB port.

Have you tried testing with a different external storage device?

Have you tried swapping out your USB cables?

In one of my previous post I asked if you had tried testing with the chain of communication shortened between your devices:
- Nimitra server - > DEQX Express HD2 [Same issue?]
- Nimitra server - > ISO Regen - > DEQX Express HD2 [Same issue?]
- Nimitra server - > SOTM TX Ultra - > DEQX Express HD2 [Same issue?]
You had mentioned that you tried the above, but it is unclear to me what the was observed during your test runs with the above configurations in place. Please verify.
