Jerky scrolling in Roon Remote on iPhone 17 with iOS 26.0 [Ticket In]

Describe the issue

Sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere. I've found old threads, but no new replies on this topic.

On the iPhone 17, IOS 26.0 scrolling in Roon Remote is very jerky.

I think it's especially noticeable now to me because of the 120Hz proMotion display on iPhone 17. Roon Remote (1554) is the only app that behaves this way.

Is there any prospect of a solution?

Hi @Bolus ,

Thanks for your report. Can you please confirm where the issue occurs, it is on all pages in Roon or one in specific? Does one page reproduce the issue more obviously? If you go to your iPhone Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Limit Frame Rate, does that temporarily alleviate the issue?

Thanks for your reply. Yes it does alleviate the issue, but even then I wouldn’t call it smooth.

Jerky scrolling has been an issue on 120hz iDevice displays since they were first released. There are numerous existing threads discussing the issue.

Don’t expect it to be addressed soon or ever.

Good day @Bolus !

Thanks for sharing your report.

We were able to reproduce this problem from Support side.

We have therefore open an internal ticket to R&D and will proceed further with this.

Have a nice day!

Regards.

There must have been a ticket since at least last year when „implementing a fix“ for 120 Hz scrolling was already mentioned:

Hi everyone,

Our previous effort addressed edge cases and added logging, but we have yet to fully resolve the issue of 120FPS-capable iOS phones not locking to the optimal frame rate.

You’ll likely notice that if you take a screen recording and then scroll within Roon, it’s much smoother. The phone is locking to 120FPS as expected while recording. The goal is, of course, for Roon to do this automatically when the higher frame rate is available from the OS.

There’s a ticket in the pipeline to implement a standard fix for this, but it’s not slated for release in the upcoming Roon update. As soon as the ticket has progressed through the pipeline, we’ll make an announcement here. We can consider this a new tracking thread since we have a new ticket.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· This is my 3rd ticket on the same topic in 4 years! You have even created an internal ticket to resolve the issue. Now just tested on the new build 1653 and the issue with erratic scrolling is still present.

Hi @StefanK,

Thank you for your post. This long-standing issue has been in the pipeline for some time, but it’s an upcoming priority for engineering. We don’t have any details on a potential fix or a timeline to release at this time but we will share them as soon as possible in the main tracking thread here:

I’ve re-opened the tracking thread above; our apologies that it was closed.

Hi @connor , I don’t think this is the same issue. Sort of jerky scrolling is not so horrible for me. Really annoying however is the scrolling back up, mainly visible in composition view that have many recordings. Here the screen starts to jump around erratically, so when I want to pick specific recording I loose track of it. You can see that in the videos I have included in my previous tickets. Reducing motion in iPad/iPhone settings have no impact on this behavior

Jerky scrolling is still very bad for older iOS devices with 120hz and even 60hz displays. It’s less noticeable on new more powerful hardware.
