It’s all for your own good Rod.
Very therapeutic as well.
You probably already know but for albums with barcodes using the phone app to add them by using search and then hit the barcode scanner is much faster.
It’s also interesting to see the values IMHO.
Well worth the effort!
I added my collection a couple of years ago, and I find it invaluable in ‘library management’. Which at my age, means preventing me buying an album again when I already have a copy! #early-dementia
Once you’ve added all your albums to Discogs, Discographic is quite a useful graphical app that helps keep track of overall values etc. It’s a bit more user-friendly that the Discogs website.
Adding to discogs I’ve been finding it quite tedious tbh
Not planning on selling so values are probably only of any use if there was an insurance claim (which I hope I will never need) and I doubt I would be able to find a lot of what I have in as good a condition as I have them in as a lot are first editions and have only ever played on decent equipment.
It has been about a month for me to even add that few, trying to match which edition I have is a chore, unless I am missing an easy short cut to doing so.
Time for some music. Been playing outdoors long enough.
@AceRimmer
I didn’t know about the bar code scan bit but I do now , lol the first record I picked to try it with, doesn’t have a bar code
But this does

Neither does this one
A lot of my collection will not have them. Methinks.
A lot of my old vinyl from the 70’s & 80’s didn’t have barcodes either, but newer releases, and all my CD’s/SACD’s did have barcodes.
With the older ones, you have to put them in manually
Cool song and cool movie
I think barcodes on records started about 80 or 81.
All CD and sacd should have them though.
However if you are not too bothered about knowing the value or worried about buying duplicates ( which was / is my main use case) then maybe it is a lot of work for not much return to you?
I’ve started so I will finish eventually, maybe (borrowed from mastermind) probably just add them as I play them.
Erm. see post 2137 in this thread, and that is not all of them
It was a lot of work when I started with 4000 to add but I did it slowly a couple dozen a day or so, maybe more at weekend ( 100 a day?).
Then just adding as you buy is easy.
But yes adding as you play is also a good strategy
Just added 6 but now I am off for a ride on my .
