Long gaps between tracks since build 1169

The gaps are certainly not limited to hi res, I noticed when playing Avram Fefer Quartet Juba Lee 16/44 (Qobuz). The gaps between the tracks differed wildly, from a few seconds tot about 20, but were unmistakingly present.

Something is amiss, and I’d say it’s the way Roon talks to the Tidal and Qobuz servers. But I’m no expert, I just hope this is fixed before this weekend.

@support is there a solution in the works?

Sharing the thread https://community.roonlabs.com/t/please-suggestions-to-solve-time-lag-on-track-and-album-changes/198147?u=ricardo_damborenea

I am having this issue as well - and it is limited to Qobuz playback. Playing the same “should-be-gapless” album on Tidal sees no issue. Not only are there gaps where there should be none, the time between tracks on Qobuz is frequently longer (by a second or so) than they should be. Testing with Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon - again, working just fine on Tidal, “gapped” on Qobuz.

If I bypass Roon and play the Qobuz file via the BlueSound app, there are no issues. It seems to be specific to Roon in conjunction with Qobuz.

I’m not having between track delays but albums that should be/were gapless no longer are.
For example this one.

I’m using a microRendu all is connected by Ethernet.

EDIT: Just switched the Rendu to DLNA.
Using mConnect with Qobuz the album is gapless.

Sorry to hear you’re also affected @James_McKeand and @Placebophile. Please open a ticket and ask for support. I’m sure this issue doesn’t go unnoticed, but it can’t be visible enough.

This weekend the results were mixed. For several hours friday night I thought it was over, but today the gaps were back.

I’m quite surprised that support didn’t react in this thread or the other threads regarding the same or similar issues. First time in my experience they stay silent. There’s no need to, I think. I’m convinced that they’re as annoyed as I am and presumably you all are. And they’re probably working hard to solve this. But please acknowledge the issue, and let us know it has your attention.

@support - Can you weigh in on this issue that seems to be affecting numerous people?

Thanks!

I believe that I’ve found the long delay issue for my system, in my case, the long delay happens if I turn on showing “Lyrics”, and the problem disappears if I turn it off.

In the now playing screen I did this yesterday but didn’t notice anything (though I didn’t play a particularly gapless album)

I experience extremely long pauses (up to 20 seconds!) between tracks when using volume levelling and DSP sample rate conversion - this has never been a problem before.
As soon as I switch this off, the pauses are normally long, but I would like to continue using it.

I don’t use the lyrics screen often, don’t use DSP or volume leveling, and still get gaps. Still very inconsistently, but they are there too often as described before.

@support?

OK, unfortunately I have to confirm that I now experience long gaps between tracks even without volume levelling and DSP. :frowning:

Just tried ist. Still gapless100% here, Germany

Good to know, @Axel_Lesch. I’m listening again to Revolver Super Deluxe. Far from gapless.

It’s still possible this whole issue is related to my set up in one way or the other, and not a Roon - Qobuz/Tidal thing. If so, I’d like to know how to find out. But the silence of @support is deafening. What’s going on?

Support replied about this issue in another thread.

Thanks @Placebophile. In my experience (just tried again) the issue is not restricted to Qobuz, Tidal is affected too. Hope @support picks that up.

Hey @Bluebeat and folks also experiencing this issue with gaps between tracks, as @Placebophile has already shared - we are indeed looking into this further :+1:

We haven’t yet replicated the issue specifically in the ways listed on this thread, but we’ve got an idea of which direction to investigate further.

I will report back with any findings as we spend more time looking into this issue :+1:

Thanks @benjamin.

Update: after a software update of both the Roon and Sonos versions last week, the long pauses are noticeably shorter on my system. But they are not yet completely gone. How are the others?

Just tried it again:

Still gapless, no pause at all.
