This link shows that the Marantz AV10 is roon ready. But people with this surround sound processor says that it is only roon tested. Why would roon be saying this if it is not correct?
Reason I am trying to get clarification is that I would like to purchase a Marantz AV10.
Marantz USA website says the AV-10 is Roon Tested. I think that just means it’s a little more effort to setup because it will not be auto discovered by Roon, but that’s a one time deal and it’s the way Roon worked with every device initially. It may also mean that you can’t control volume from the Roon app, but not 100% sure about that. Other than that, it will work with Roon.
It’s really strange. The Roon Partners site was always touted as the reliable place to check to see if a component was in fact Roon Ready. Now it seems it is unreliable and there is nowhere reliable to check anymore, except to try to find other owners who can verify Roon status.
Someone at Roon should get their act together so that they have a reliable list of equipment that is Roon ready. You would think that this would be an important priority; e.g. what equipment works with your software. And I would think Harman Kardon has sufficient resources to make that happen.
I know it works with Airplay 2 that is a feature of the AV10. But that limits you to 16 bit. Not sure about the volume control; I think you have to control with the processor rather than the app but I am not sure. The salesman in the store was changing the volume using the processor dial.
I’m pretty sure you can’t use Roon for volume control when using Airplay.
On the Marantz website is a reply from Marantz customer support, that the AV10 will be Roon Ready after a new firmware update. The firmware is not yet available everywhere.
I am also waiting for it.
Let’s see…
Good to know, I have ordered an AV-10 and hope to have in within the next month.
Roon volume control works just fine with Airplay 2 with all of my Airplay devices, including a Denon AVR-A1H which implements a similar/same software stack as the Marantz.
Thanks for the correction.
I have an AV10 and haven’t seen the update come down to it yet. Since its a staged update could be a few days. Wondering if anyone else has the update on the AV10 and doesn’t see any change with the unit not Roon Ready.
I’m also still waiting for the update for my AV10.
But since the release notes say nothing about Roon-Ready, I have no positive hope.
I guess we can assume it’s coming especially since its listed on the Roon partner site.
Marantz uses Heos for streaming which is not Roon Ready. The AV10 is Roon Tested, which means that if you hook a Roon Ready streamer to it, that it will recognize the DAC in the Marantz and make necessary adjustments automatically to have it work optimally.
… True, however, both Marantz and unusually / surprisingly Roon have confirmed it will be Roon Ready once the new firmware is released.
Yes, it works
My AV10 was updated overnight and now showing as Roon Ready.
Marantz AV10 is Roon Ready now, used it yesterday — full 24/192 PCM and DSD 128 capability. Long time coming but it works now… Enjoy!
