Marantz Cinema Line [HEOS] - When is it Roon Ready?

If they change the hardware it can. They have said that they just have so many models using the current one it’s a whole new product to support like when they moved from the old ones that didn’t do hires. That post is old and already very wrong in its Roon details, software can’t get round hardware limitations. With AV a declining market, multichannel music even less of a market and with D&M being up for sale I doubt it will happen anytime soon.

Indeed, multichannel and DSD support via RAAT in AVRs will unfortunately remain a tiny niche, IMHO. Although, in 2024 Masimo spread some plans on developing Heos+ which shall support mc at least.

But again, looking at the current financial situation of their CE branch which includes D&M, B&W, Classé, DT, Polk and other non audio related brands there’s no room for major product development until they’ve sold what they owned for such a short time. Of what you can read Masimo’s actions clearly focus on preparing for getting rid of these brands as soon as possible. And god knows what the future will be. Let’s hope for the best.

And without a doubt, a lot happened with well known audio brands in general, being under financial pressure, some at least struggling a lot. Maybe as a result of this you might have the chance to find great offers for gear of such brands in your country. I recently got a full 20% off for rather expensive B&W speakers.

Is there a way to find out if Denon considers my amp (the X3700h) is technically considered “legacy”? I’m not holding out immense hope that it will become Roon Ready updated, but I’d like to know if they’re never updating firmware for it again so there’s zero hope (in which case maybe I’d get a new one at some point) or if it’s on a “someday” list?

I suspect that Denon considers “Archived” products to be legacy products - and the X3700H is an archived product…

Thanks much @Geoff_Coupe that makes sense and good to “know” (at least in the sense that what you’re saying is eminently reasonable as an assumption).

Ok, at some point I’ll get a new AVR anyways, but I think since the speakers on that set-up are hardly amazing 2-channel music worthy (in-wall and in-ceiling Paradigms, albeit with dual 15” subs which makes it fun if not as musical/revealling as my Devore o/96’s) I’ll live with AirPlay for a few more years until I move. Good to know!

Or put an inexpensive streamer like a Wiim, raspberry pi, miniPC in front.

Curiosity question. Last year when Marantz/Denon issued a firmware update that had numerous devices showing as Roon Ready Uncertified; was your X3700H showing Roon Ready Uncertified?

My AVR-X8500H was showing Roon Ready Uncertified. I have hopes that is an indicator that it will get there some day.

I’m only AirPlay, and always have been. I’m not complaining, if I’d wanted I could have optimized. I just realized that I end up listening to more music than I thought on my HT set up because of convenience.

Why not use RHEOS extension? Better than AirPlay.

X1700H is not on that list so hopefully mine might get it

Hello,
Just curious.
For those who have a Marantz Stereo 70s.
When the Marantz is playing another source (tunes, cd, etc) and you start something in Roon, does it automatically switch to the Roon stream? Or do you have to change the source on the Marantz?
Does the Marantz switch on and start playing when starting something in Roon?

Thanks!!

Yes on all counts, that is part of being Roon Ready.

Still no support for AVR-X4700H, Sad!!!

Your AVR is discontinued/legacy product so unfortunately it won’t be certified.

Legacy, it is 5 years old?

Just got the new firmware on my Cinema 60. Had to reboot the AVR via the HEOS app to have this recognized as certified but now working beautifully.

This marks the end of my need for RHEOS. I may issue a last update for those with legacy devices but I think most needs are met …. At last!
