Matrix Mini-I Pro 3 : Roon ready or not?

hi fellow users.

I was following this tread even thought mine was working (under an early developper status…long story). I restarted the Roon server and it now shows Roon Ready.

One problem, it used to take upsampling up to PCM 768Khz and DSD 256, it will now accept only PCM up to 384Khz and DSD 128 Only.

Anybody with the same issue ?

Yes, it finally works. Thanks, Matrix/Roon!

At first I thought that may be the limitation of network vs USB, but looks like mine is still showing 768khz and DSD256 via wifi.

We have a winner :tada::trophy::tada:

@Jean-Marie_Zeitouni what Matrix firmware are you running?

The Matrix Mini-I Pro 3 is now working as a Roon Endpoint! It sounds very great. The noise floor is significantly improved over using the Matrix as streamer/DAC over my old Auralic Aries Mini. I can move the Auralic Streamer to my secondary sound setup.

I will used for a couple of weeks and then provide a detailed review.

I almost forget to let you know that it took a re-boot of my Roon server to get the Matrix device to actually work with Roon.

just installed the new firmware.

it was working fine (768khz / dsd 256) with my developper acces before.

It is working here aswell and with 384kHz/DSD128.

Updated firmware, re-started RoonServer on my Core (Mac Mini), and it’s up and running! Very happy so far!

@jazMirti Old or new firmware?

The latest firmware.

Interesting @jazMirti I have the new firmware, but can only see 384Khz/DSD128. It’s on Wi-Fi, is yours on Ethernet?

MA’s webpage states that Roon ready does 384kHz/DSD128.

Clearly states

MA player Lite
Roon Ready
PCM 16-24Bit 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 176.4kHz, 192kHz, 352.8kHz, 384kHz
DSD 2.8MHz, 5.6MHz

thank you,

well it used to be 768khz and dsd 11.2Mhz

Probably just some kind of beta testing.

What hit me when listening to some 16/44.1 tracks is that the Roon Ready input is dead silent on the XLR output. It sounds really great!

Under the latest firmware it looks like the the maximum streaming resolution is 384Khz/DSD128. But as a USB DAC I’m seeing 768Khz/DSD512.
So I’m guessing it’s probably a stability requirement for Roon endpoint approval.
I’ll head over to the Matrix Audio website forum and ask… :face_with_monocle:

thank you Obwos

interesting find… I didn’t actually update my firmware and so I still have the ability to stream 768khz/DSD256 as Roon ready endpoint. Regardless, 384khz/DSD128 isn’t really an issue for me either since I don’t have any content as high as this that native res.
