Maximum library size

What is the largest number of local audio files roon can handle comfortably?

I am aware CPU and memory of the core are limiting factors.

I understand the nucleus plus handles “more than” 100,000 tracks. How much more is this?

In addition to the previous links, also see

in particular Large Libraries and Largest Libraries

I suspect this section might get updated to include M1 and M2 Macs as both, particularly if they have 16GB RAM, are capable of running large libraries. In the past, when Roon was running on Mono rather than .Net, memory management caused a lot of problems. The switch to .Net seems to have resolved this.

I think that’s the case, yes.

My main point with this was that there is no hard limit, just an upper bound of what is tested, and loads of CPU and RAM is recommended if testing the bounds

Agreed, but this wasn’t the case on the Mac until the switch to .Net and a native ARM version. Previously, and irrespective of CPU and RAM, Macs would choke when attempting to run large libraries.

True, and I expect this to be fixed/improved on the Mac now, and agree that probably the KB deserves an update

Roon definitely now runs on Mac since 2.0 and the new .net version.
My system:
iMac 27“ octacore 2019 128GB/2TB NVME/8TB SSD/80TB Thunderbolt RAID
My Files:
812.000 songs, includes about 700.000 tracks lossless. 77.400 albums, includes about 12.300 albums in hires.
Roon Remote is an 2021 iPad Pro.
Roon Server starts within 5 minutes then showing the reading in process.
After some more 2 minutes the library is shown and playing time can begin.
Before 2.0 numerous faults made the listening experience a pain.
Now, I really didn‘t find any faulty software behaviour.
