So good news about the Atom PC. I found this recent post from Roon Support that recommends a Atom-based compute stick for MCH:

Also, I was able to verify my Atom-based mini-PC still plays my 5.1 DSD64 files just fine after re-connecting it and updating to the latest version of Windows 10 (1809):
