Roon mess up albums in library with various artists
Describe your network setup
Ethernet.
Various Artists albums are taken apart and tracks appear as albums. . I need to manually merge them one by one. All my music files are organized into album folders. Sometimes after I make a
correction by merging newly separated albums, all of a sudden new albums begin getting chopped up. Often when I correct one album, other albums that were also separated will suddenly correct themselves, while new albums get split up.
I use Rock on a nuc. Library on NAS.This started after last update to build 1483. Does not happen every day, but several times a week. The albums have been in my library for several years without problems.
This sounds very like an issue that Roon Labs has been investigating. There’s a fix in Early Access, but it has not yet reached the Production releases, I believe.
Hi @Hakon_Berg,
Thanks for writing in to ask us about this. Geoff Coupe is correct. We do have a fix in the pipeline. I cannot give you an exact timeline for it’s release but we will try to let you know here when it is. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Hi @Hakon_Berg,
A fix associated with this thread has now merged into Early Access for testing. If you’d like to move your RoonServer machine and Roon controllers to the Early Access branch to try it out, you can follow the instructions here:
For those who choose to test in Early Access - please post your findings and results in the Early Access section rather than this thread.
After testing, the fix will be released as part of a regular Roon update on the public branch. If you’d prefer to keep your Roon setup on the Production branch, be sure to update when prompted within Roon, and please keep an eye on Software Release Notes.
This thread will remain open until the public release of the fix.
I don’t know if this is related, but yesterday another problem appeared. I have 2181 albums in local storage (stored on NAS). Yesterday Roon showed 2275 albums in local storage, which is 94 too many. This was not because albums with various artists had been split up, but because some albums (also with single artists) appeared twice. A reboot of Roon fixed it, at least temporarily, so we’ll see if it appears again. This has also happened a couple of times after updating to build 1483.
Hi @Hakon_Berg,
I agree with @Suedkiez that this is a an occurrence of case 1. Are you planning to try early access or wait for the production release?
Hi @daniel
Ok, then I am unfortunately affected by both case 1 and case 2 it seems, but good to know that the matter is being worked on. I am afraid that for various reasons I will have to skip early access, and rather wait, but thanks anyway.
The last update, build 1490, seems to have fixed this problem. Downloaded yesterday, so a bit early maybe, but at least it looks good and stable so far.
