While listening albums released yesterday in more detail, as you @Michael_Harris like Myrkur and Suldusk maybe check Vouna’s album. There are lots of similarities.
Thanks Jukka I added Vouna, Vandor and and Paradise lost to my wishlist yesterday after Kevin’s and your post’s.
I will give then all a good listen before buying at the end of the month
For the first time ever, my collection has grown larger than my wishlist on Bandcamp, even though I found several additional bands that I enjoy on there yesterday
Glad you liked it
Have you tried any of the Kauan albums, they have some lyrics but are mostly atmospheric instrumental.
I have bought their full library over the last year but if you want to pick one to listen to go for Sorni Nai or the latest Ice Fleet.
I have Ice Fleet on now. It sounds good but also familiar. I think I have played this before and maybe dozed off to it. Could be too atmospheric?
Kauan are one of the few metal bands that you can enjoy close listening too, or going to sleep listening too. I have to say it’s one of those albums I put on late at night when I am traveling, so I have fallen asleep while listening on a number of occasions.
Going to put it on myself now (while no chance of falling asleep)
Thanks to everyone who was mentioning Suldusk here… I listened to a few tracks of “Lunar Falls” and liked them… added to my whislist and will take a closer listen later this weekend…
Offtopic: When I peeked over to Myrkur on Bandcamp I found the “Juniper” Single which contains a haunting rendition of the scandanavian folk song “Bonden og Kragen”. I happen to know this song performed by celtic folk-rockers Tempest. They named it “Bonden Og Kraka (The Farmer and the Crow)” and take a totally different but very energetic approach (celtic roots rock meets 70s rock - in case somebody is interested: Turn Of The Wheel | Tempest)
Papa they are both great, and get better with more and closer listening.
The Myrkur album Folkesange is truly excellent as its the Soldusk album Lunar Fall’s and both benefit from headphone listening if you have a decent pair.
What I found streaming on Bandcamp before I bought them was that the bitrate is too low, they benefit from buying and downloading or streaming on Tidal or Qobuz if you have them.
Bandcamp Streaming is just a previewing tool for me. I’ve got a Qobuz account and I tend to buy the music I like anyway. I’ll listen to the albums with headphones for sure. When it gets late this is my only option to listen at decent volume.
Yes that’s exactly how I have recently been using the Bandcamp app as well. Going down a rabbit hole and coming back with a few absolute corkers and then trying some on Tidal to get a feel for the real sounds. I have been surprised by the number of albums that have been CD quality on Tidal and high resolution when downloaded after purchase on Bandcamp
Anyway now onto easily my favourite Portuguese Metal (or any kind of music) band
Not sure if I have seen this posted before but it was in my recommended list on Bandcamp this week.
Unusually for me I listened to the first track and pressed buy as it had a good Tool type backing track and a mixed clean and throaty singing style.
Anyway excellent Prog Metal and worth a post
Daniele great shout, that is one of the best albums of the year so far.
I ended up buying their whole back catalogue after hearing it
I don’t think I have seen this posted before, but it’s some fairly grizzly Doom/Black Metal that has enough different about it to make it interesting and bought it this week from Bandcamp.
Not sure it’s summer garden material, but it is what’s on at the moment
I don’t remember anyone posting this before but I could have missed it.
I’m really liking it, just very neat power melodic metal.
I will add another I do not think has been posted. At least it is new to me.
Metal takes on Beethoven and ABBA so far, and still going through it.
Too little music during weekend but also listened Obsidian Tide again!
Read somewhere that they are working on a new album, hopefully it will be released soon!
Thanks for posting this… previewed two tracks and added the album to the wishlist… sounds promising…
This is very nice, almost to the end and not a single complaint from the team.
High praise in this office
