Description of Issue
When I click on Roon it launches and says: Waiting for your Roon server, Your Roon server doesn’t seem to be running, then a button which says: Start Roon server, then: select a different Roon server then: need help?
I’ve tried clicking on Start Roon server which it processes and then goes back to the screen above. Before having this problem I was updating my Nvidia driver which crashed at the end.
Can you please confirm if RoonServer app is running in your Taskbar (bottom right corner)? You may need to click the arrow to show hidden apps running. If you are still having issues after confirming this, can you please use these instructions to send us logs from both your RoonServer and Roon logs folders and let us know once uploaded?
It’s been a month since you emailed me and I have not heard from you. I sent you all the information you requested. Can you now respond to me ASAP to let me know what’s going on.
Hi @Dave_Udoinam,
Apologies for the delayed response here, I was doing a review of cases from last year and I noticed we missed your post here. Are you still having this issue even on the latest Roon version or has there been an improvement?
If you are since you are using a Windows PC, I would verify that both Roon.exe and RAATServer.exe have been added as exceptions to your Windows firewall.
You can use these instructions to add the exceptions and the executables themselves would be located in your Database Location/Application folder path.
I would also add these exceptions to any Antivirus or other Firewall blocking applications you may have and ensure that you connected to your network via a Private network, not a Public one, see this guide for more information.
I added roonappliance.exe to the Windows Defender firewall as I noted in a solution by Toolio (November '23) he mentioned this to be the fix for my issue. I then launched Roon Server from its desktop shortcut and it appeared on the taskbar in the hidden icons section. I then launched the program Roon and it worked without any problems.
I recently had an update for Roon and there were no issues. The update worked fine. If I have any issues in the future I will contact you. Thank you and your colleagues for all your help.
