New NUC install--updating BIOS, no boot order choice

Congratulations @Jeff_Z. Once you’ve done this, you’ll find the Rpi stuff is really a breeze. The really small screws are the only modest challenge.

In Windows 10, SMB1 isn’t enabled by default, and this may have compounded your troubles.
Enable SMB1 to make file sharing work…

  1. Goto Control panel ➤ Apps and Features ➤ Programs and Features ➤ Turn Windows Features on or off
  2. Check SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and click OK to apply.

Thanks MJB. I did enable smb1 as you indicated (actually i found it was already enabled) and it didn’t help. The IT guy at work thought i should have been able to connect, so it is a mystery why i couldn’t. next time I am going to just use my wife’s mac. it was super easy.

Mac is just always so much easier :sunglasses:

You need to change Allow Insecure Guest Access as well as enabling SMB. See my thread here:

Thanks, I will try this when i get home tonight.
