ROCK storage share unavailable in Windows - error 80004005 -- and resolution

So recently, I started getting an error code of 0x80004005 when trying to access the ROCK storage share from my Windows desktop. In investigating the issue, I discovered that:

In the following versions of Windows:

  • Windows 10 Enterprise
  • Windows 10 Education
  • Windows Server 2016 Standard
  • Windows Server 2016 Datacenter

SMBv2 behavior was changed and no longer allows a user to connect to a remote share by using guest credentials by default, even if the remote server requests guest credentials.

This means when you try and access the ROCK storage share via the File Manager you will get a timeout with an error code of 0x80004005. In order to correct this you will have to go to the following Group Policy setting:

Computer configuration\administrative templates\network\Lanman Workstation

And “Enable insecure guest logons”

This, of course, will potentially open you up to other issues. @support Just tagging you in to make you aware of the issue.
