New released albums add from streaming service but AWOL on Roon

It isn’t caused by AI slop. People have observed the issue and complained about it for years. Roon probably generates their database at a fixed time, while data availability on Qobux is on a more flexible schedule. I think that Roon should discuss the issue with Qobuz, and they may come up with a better time for Roon to regenerate their database. They could even do something more dynamic, like if Roon could get the status of activity on Qobuz and hold off for awhile (up to a limit) if they are busy processing things.

I agree there must be a better way.

This is actually really interesting. And it goes beyond new releases, not being available in Roon immediately. Anecdotally, I noticed that room seems mostly to misbehave and freeze up on Fridays. I had wondered if that was really true or if it was just that I was really trying to listen to music on Fridays. But this explains it. Roon’s systems are slowing down my server on Fridays!

For Roon users it’s not “TGIF” (thank god it’s Friday) but “ONIF” (oh no it’s Friday!!)

We got another one today. Streets of Minneapolis by Bruce Springsteen came out Wednesday and doesn’t exist in Roon now (Thursday evening). I have added it on Qobuz and done a manual sync.

I hope everyone keeps raising these issues. Despite the problem being known, Roon’s response that this is just the way it works is not good enough. Something is very mangled and inefficient in this new release sync process.

I was just pointing out that a support thread exists and updates will be given there, for anyone who is interested.

From these various forum posts I can see that there are dozens(?) of people waiting impatiently for their preferred new releases to show up in Roon the same day they are released generally.

I am curious how many Roon users are in this group overall. Is it 1% of Roon subscribers, or more or less? I’m content to just wait to see what shows up, so not in this group myself.

Just wondering how many non-posters consider these delays to be a problem.

Calls for a poll

Off topic, but it seems odd to me that in my previous post I started it with the sentence; I hope everyone keeps raising these issues.

I didn’t hit reply to Jon _Burrell’s post or name him, but I did put the sentence in quotation marks. But now it looks like my post includes a full direct quote? I was trying to avoid singling him out, I just wanted to start my post with that thought.

What kind of magic is that?

Did you select the text before hitting the reply button? This would auto-create a quote.

No, I don’t think I had any text was selected.

It’s not a big deal. I’m just hoping that someone with the ability to do so did not try to help me by turning the unlinked quote marks into a real quote. I only used the quote marks to acknowledge that the line was not original to me.

Maybe there is something the forum software did automatically that I don’t understand. I’ll be conscience of this experience in the future if I ever try to do that again. Or maybe I should try some experimenting ha

Anyway, thanks for the tip about selecting the text before hitting reply, something I did not know.

I’ve never seen that happen but who knows

Sometimes it happens to me that I select something when reading, forget about it, later hit reply, and then am surprised by a quote

Today new Mostly Autumn and Bruce Springsteen still AWOL

I had to delete and re-add these albums in Qobuz. Then they appeared. But without doing this, it looks like Roon would have forever ignored their presence in the Qobuz library (the server had been restarted and manually synchronised with Qobuz several times). Which is not reassuring, to put it one way.
