But it’s actually your recommendation rather than roon’s that made me take a closer look. I was unaware of Destroyer (solo Dan Bejar?) as well. But the reviews make references to Bowie and Prefab Sprout and I have been playing The New Pornographers where there is a direct link so I would have expected a much more prominent recommendation from roon. Instead it is there but buried really deep down in NRFY where I didn’t notice it. Great album though.
I’m still getting Bing Crosby’s Christmas album as number 1 relevant release, shortly followed by Kings College Cambridge Sings Christmas Carols… It is now February.
What would the top album be if you picked it yourself? If it was among albums present in NRFY, how far down was it? If it wasn’t among the NRFY picks, when did it come out?
A few weeks ago I dismissed everything, singles and albums in NRFY.
Very surprised to see a lot of same singles coming back in NRFY this week, even Sting’s christmas single.
I think this is really starting to get some traction. Gone is all the classical and Christmas stuff. In its place is stuff I actually want to listen to. I just discovered a new Ben Watt album that I was previously unaware of. Pretty much everything in the list now reflects my musical taste.
I don’t know what happened but either Valence just reached the singularity or Roon tweaked something!
Agreed, the selection has had quite a shake up. I did delete most of the Christmas stuff myself at the start of the week, so can’t say if Roon can take any credit for that aspect.
I looked at the first two pages of my “most played” albums. 11 out of 54 are Classical. And yet my NRFU is predominantly Classical. I don’t have the feeling there is a lot of personalization going on. Seems because I play some Classical (and film music) I am being lumped as only interested in Classical. I find the Qobuz recommendations much more relevant and interesting.
You have to be careful with Genres (I hate them) I see a lot labelled Country that are in no way Yee Haw country. The same is true of Folk, often it should be Adult Contemporary perhaps?
