None of my 218 devices output sound anymore from Roon. Other Meridian devices work fine.
Have rebooted Nucleus, power cycled 218 devices, turned DSP speakers off and back on.
Is this a known issue?
Thatâs a lot of devices!
Not a lot of info to go on here.
What do you see in Roon/settings/audio for these devices?
Do the devices look like they play?
Have you tried disable/enable cycle?
What version of Roon?
Any firewall/router changes?
Continuing here: Roon not playing music via Meridian 218
Same as in the other thread:
Nucleus+ running Roon Server 2.0 (build 1353)
Meridian 218 had everything set to Default. Even swapped it out for a spare one to see if it was the device. Have another pair of 218 with different DSP speakers connected through speakerlink that have the same issue.
The 218 device in Roon shows that itâs playing music but no sound comes out.
No network/firewall changes
Other Meridian end-points are working fine
How do the 218 show up in the settings page ? Any clues there ?
There must be other 218 users lurking around on B1353.
I am having the exact same problem. I believe since updating to the latest roon build.
Roon identifies the meridian218.
Roon shows that it is playing and the meridian surely gets a signal since the status lights changed according to the input/source but no sound
Hello @jaapaap /@Peter_Hvidegaard ,
Thanks for the reports here. Can you please reproduce the issue and let us know the exact local time + date + track when the issue occurs next? Once we have this info, weâll enable diagnostics, perhaps there are additional errors logged in the Roon diagnostics.
Hi @noris
Naturally. I canât do anything but reproduce it since it is a permanent situation.
I donât get any error message.
I am not sure what you mean by âwhen it occurs nextâ?
It occurs right now as I am writing this.
If you want me to start playing at a certain time just let me know when you want me to start it?
I can make it start playing any random number at anytime (Local Denmark time GMT+1 0800-2359)
Best regards, Peter
Hi @Peter_Hvidegaard ,
Apologies for the delayed response here, I was doing a review of cases from last year and I noticed we missed your post here. Are you still having this issue even on the latest Roon version or has there been an improvement?
Hi @noris
Thanks for reaching out.
The problem is still present unchanged.
It seems however that it is somehow related to sonos.
If any sonos device is present on the network it doesnât work. (Regardless of being controlled by roon or not)
If all sonos devices are powered down it works.
Extremely frustrating and a sad situation for parties involved.
The problem exists for a lot of other users.
Best regards
Peter
Another data point. It seems to lose connection with the 218 when youâre doing a searchâŚ
New firmware out for the Meridian units. Contact your dealer.
As stated there is a firmware upgrade from Meridian that solves the issue caused by the sonos upgrade.
This firmware is contained in the Meridian Device Manager for PC v52
I just had the chance now to do the firmware upgrade to build 256.
And everything seems to be working perfectly now.
I have tested the Meridian controlled and streamed to by ROON and I have actually also tested the Meridian integrated with sonos (Sourced by sonos port) and no problems experienced.
According to the release notes, this firmware release relates to three areas of product behaviour:
⢠Allows 218 and 251 to be used on networks which include one or more Sonos units.
⢠Provides 218 with the new âExtension Limitâ audio setting supported by Meridian DSP9 loudspeakers.
⢠Improves other aspects of functionality in certain installation scenarios
