Nucleus One freezes after about 20 minutes

Hi @Alan_de_Vries

Just a fellow user.

Are you using Ethernet power line adapters?

From my limited IT knowledge, a 169.254.x.x IP address is by default when the DHCP (main router) cannot dish out a IP address.

This can also occur if Ethernet power line adaptors are used. From experience many many years ago.

Could you describe your IT network setup so we can fully understand what could be causing this.

The fact you can get the text on a TV via HDMI would steer me away from thinking the Nucleus One is bricked.

Hoping @noris can explain the ā€œcanā€™t removeā€ message. I assume this is because no actual IP has been assigned so nothing to remove.

Hi Menzies,

Appreciate your interest.

No, am not using any power line adapters. My internet provider is Spectrum. I p[ay for extra high speed service. My normal rate is in the 500Mbs area and Iā€™m expecting it to go higher soon. My router and modem are two separate pieces of unknown manufacture provided by Spectrum after the speed upgrade. I have hard wired ethernet and cable to two different parts of my home. My steamer is a recently purchased PS Audio Air Lens. Until switching to Roon, I was a satisfied Bluesound user.

If this info gives you any thoughts, I welcome them.

When you connected the Nucleus One to the switch in your rack, and then moved to directly connected to your router - was this with the same Ethernet cable or different ones.

Would you be able to confirm the routers model number?

Or identify it from their website of devices, link below

Different ethernet cable.

Hi @Alan_de_Vries,

Thank you for your continued patience! A few follow-up questions for you:

  1. when you examine the router ethernet port connected to your Nucleus, what color lights and flashing (if any) patterns do you see?
  2. Are you able to access the webGUI for your router, and check to see if your Nucleus is showing up on the list of devices connected within your local network? Hereā€™s a screenshot on how to access your router web display:

Let me know your findings, and weā€™ll be on standby for your reply!

(Note that the Technical support team doesnā€™t work on weekends, and so weā€™ll be back first thing Monday!)

Hi Benjamin,

  1. Steady green light, flashing yellow light.
  2. . Do not see Roon Server on client list. There is one unidentified IP Address, 192.168.1.164

Looking forward to your response on Monday

Hi @Alan_de_Vries,

Thanks for your continued patience here! Our team is continuing to investigate your issue further, and I hope to have more information to share this week.

If you power down the Nucleus, does the unidentified IP address disappear?

This tells us gig ethernet is present, but not passing any traffic.

To confirm, youā€™ve tested additional cables and different ports on your router?

Hello Benjamin,

just saw your response. Donā€™t have time to check and respond now. Will get on it tomorrow.

Alan

Benjamin,

-Unidentified AP address still there.

  • I have tried other cables and switched ports

Hi @Alan_de_Vries,

Thanks again for all your patience over the last two weeks, and Iā€™m again really sorry youā€™ve had a rocky experience with your Nucleus so far.

I think getting an RMA setup would be the best next step, and likely getting you a new unit setup. You can get an RMA going by following the steps via this typeform:

https://account.roon.app/en/contact/nucleus-troubleshooting/

Thank you Benjamin,

I think this is the obvious next step. I do appreciate your patient help.

Best,

Alan
