Hi, Chris,
The problem did not resolved. My nucleus one is still not connected to my network.
I now use my PC as the server that is my equipment for using ROON before my purchase of nucleus one Actually, the nucleus one is confused and disappointed to you and me and maybe more other users, customers…

Best regards

Hi @csk33kimo and @CBerry,

Can you both confirm the Nucleus is on the same local subnet in each of your networks? @csk33kimo I see two potential subnets within your local setup, can you pull up your router settings and review your device list for matching IPs?

When connected directly to your router via ethernet, can you access the webUI of your Nucleus? More info here:

With that, can you next plug the Nucleus into a monitor via HDMI, while still connected directly to your router via ethernet, and share a screenshot of what you see?

Thanks!

This is the screenshot that connect to a monitor. What to do next?

Hi @CBerry,

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to connect, could you please send over a set of logs from the Nucleus?

@csk33kimo if you plug in a USB keyboard into the Nucleus and press ‘F1’ to skip, are you able to successfully connect to the Nucleus?

In the meantime, our development team is looking into things further. :+1:

Hi, @benjamin ,
Nucleus One can be connected to network and operated well first time after I pressed F1 at the above screenshot step.
Thank you for the answeing.
Now, my problem is the same as @CBerry . Do I need to connect to a monitor and USB keyboard everytime when I turned off the power of Nucleus One…?! How to fix it?

Kind regards

Thank you @csk33kimo and @CBerry,

The best next step would be to fill out the typeform below to start the RMA process to ship your machine in for a replacement. Here’s the typeform:

Hi @benjamin,
What change can I make if I press F2.
There are several lists and choices there. Any change can help to resolve the boot-up procedure? How do you think…I think no one want to returne Nucleus One after several months of waiting for its launching in market…time is precious :two_hearts:

Kind regards

Hi Csk33kimo,

Fellow user here. Messaging because I don’t want to add extra noise in your discussion with Support. Going into the BIOS and changing the wrong variable can cause additional issues and would suggest not changing anything unless advised by support.

Even so, there is nothing you can set in the BIOS, the message is clearly the CPU Fan has failed. You need to RMA the unit. The Nucleus One has a fan to control cooling, and running the unit without proper cooling can lead to further damage.

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi @Rugby,
Thank you for the detail explanation of the situation I had encountered. Without it, I can not understand where my Nucleus One’s problem is.
I had already filled the return form on the Roon shop and the link. What should I do in the next step? Mail the Nucleus One with original box back to what address or whom…?
It showed pending.

I raised question here becuase I have no idea how to deal with it.

Respectfully yours,
SK

As I don’t work for Roon I don’t know for sure as I’ve never RMA’d a unit with them. I’m sure that they will send instructions.

Hi @CBerry ,

I totally agree with your feeling. You have worked hard.
Time spend to diagnose the hardware fault is annoying.
Everyone’s time is important, including customers and customer service members.
My only hope is more people who might encounter the same problem about Neucleus One bootup error can see this post and get right action to correct the fault faster than us. :sunglasses:
Finally, I hope the process of RMA (Return Material Authorization) can be more rapidly resposive to our request.

Best regards

Thank you @Rugby for the kind response.
The Neucleus One without CPU fan perfoms much better than my PC (Windows 11). This is still a lovely machine. It’s just that I was unlucky enough to get the King of Machines.

I have 2-day vaccination (because of typhoons). So that, I have time to do these post and troubleshooting.

I hope there will be no more people like me take so much time on troubleshooting.

The first response to this post takes 5 days. And, you might imagine how much worry I pay to this issue.

Best regards,

Hi @csk33kimo,

If you’d be comfortable trying this, could you please open up your Nucleus One, and review the CPU fan connection? Here’s a screenshot of what you’d be looking at, with a red box around the connection you’d be reviewing.

If you’re not comfortable performing this task, we can certainly get the unit sent back in.

Let me know your thoughts!

Thank you @benjamin for the tech support.
I am going to open the box an check the red box you just indicted.
Wait for my results…

@benjamin
This is the picture after the opening of the box. What shoud I do in next step?
The connection here seems okay.

@csk33kimo,
Let’s have you do an RMA. Did you ever get instructions on doing this when you filed your RMA earlier?

@daniel
I have already filed the RMA form.
(This is the first time I do the RMA.)
There might be difficult for my case becuase I am not living in USA. If RMA i s not applicable for me, I prefer to keep the roon Nucleus One. Maybe with no fan, the sound peformance for my audio will be better.

The CPU fan inside the box seems very compact. I think it is not possible for me to replace the CPU fan by myself.

Do you have any suggestion for me? If not, I am going to close the box.

Best regard

Hi @csk33kimo,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot! It does look like the connection is fine - can you safely unplug, and reset the cable in before closing the Nucleus back up?

Let me get back to you on this - I’ll check with the RMA team on what options we have.

Using your Nucleus without a fan is a dangerous thing to do, as the Nucleus has a thermal regulation setting that relies on the fan in case things get too hot. We don’t recommend using your Nucleus if the fan is not functioning properly.

Our team doesn’t work weekends unfortunately, if you’re able to setup a temporary Roon Server on another device in the meantime, you’d at least have access to your music while we figure things out!

Thank you again for your patience through this process so far :raised_hands:
