I just bought an Onkyo RZ70. My problem is that in the Audio section of Roon on my computer, the RZ70 is not listed under “Roon Ready” or “Roon Tested”, but “other network devices”. Nevertheless, on both Onkyo and Roon website, it is claimed that RZ70 is Roon Ready. I am certain that both my Roon and the firmware of my RZ70 have been updated to the latest version. So what could be cause to the problem?
All indications in Onkyo’s marketing is that it will be coming. I have not seen anything indicating that it has arrived. I would contact Onkyo’s tech department and see when they will ship the firmware update.
Likely in the backlog like every other component waiting certification. Seems to be a common trend at the moment.
Title of Page seems to say that Roon considers TX-RZ70 to be Roon Ready.
It was like that. The product page stated that it will be Roon Ready after an firmware update coming this year. Now it’s gone, just says Roon Ready. Roon website also now shows Roon Ready.
And just like OP, I don’t see it in the Roon Ready device list. Maybe an additional firmware update is coming?
The only ones to know is Onkyo tech. I would contact them and ask.
Roon also have to change things their side to for the app to recognise it as RR which they have form for not doing so.
I think in this case, if the Roon RAAT code was in the device, you would see the device under the Roon Ready section, BUT, listed as “Uncertified”. In this case, it is lilsted in the Other Network Devices, probably as an Airplay connection, although, we haven’t seen a screen pic to know for sure.
Hi, Please see the screen picture below. There you can also see a comparison to Matrix Element S. Yes, I am the lucky guy who owns two devices that were supposed to be roon ready but not, yet? 
That shows it connecting as a chromecast device. I would call Onkyo tech and ask about a firmware update.
Asked Roon on Facebook about this and they said the firmware update will happen in 2023.

The 12/04/2023 update will address the following:
- Roon Ready update. Updated from “Roon Tested” to “Roon Ready”
- Added “Pre amp mode”.
I didn’t see this earlier because for some reason my AVR disconnected from the Wi-Fi and wouldn’t even find the network. Unplugging the Onkyo from the wall helped and the update was found. Did the update and it now shows up. Roon even can turn the AVR on!
