Hey, just a follow-up to this topic. It works! Quoting a document on Onkyo’s website:

Firmware Update Onkyo TX-RZ70
(12-04-2023)
We are pleased to offer this firmware update for the best possible
performance of your Onkyo AV Receiver.
This update may be installed via USB or Network.
TX-RZ70
(Current Version R111-0303-1120-0131)
The 12/04/2023 update will address the following:

  1. Roon Ready update. Updated from “Roon Tested” to “Roon Ready”
  2. Added “Pre amp mode”.

I didn’t see this earlier because for some reason my AVR disconnected from the Wi-Fi and wouldn’t even find the network. Unplugging the Onkyo from the wall helped and the update was found. Did the update and it now shows up. Roon even can turn the AVR on!
