Playlist Improver: Feedback Thread!

Hi,
Great feature.
As some folks mention, the improve-button shows up occationally. That goes for me as well, also after upgrading to 1438 earlyaccess (sever rebooted). I dont know if this is how it should be. Like if there`s no button, there is nothing to improve in the playlist?
By the way, great feature.
Thx.

Yup - if there’s nothing to improve, then there’s no button. However there is a bug (under investigation) that for some playlists where improvements are clearly needed, no button appears…

I think a button should show up but be greeted out, better UX

Then I suspect there would be questions raised in the forum about why the Improve button wasn’t working… :slightly_smiling_face:

Then the button could be inactive and say “nothing to improve”

I’m having the same issue. I can see them changed in the format column, but then in a short time (less than a minute), it reverts back. I thought it was maybe because of some kind of sync issue with Tidal.

Another issue. Once the improver shows me the list of songs (for quality improvement in this case), if I open the pull down menu and “select all”, Roon Remote on my iPad crashes. I’m not sure what the “select all” pull down does anyway, because all the songs with available improvements are already all highlighted on my screen.

Hi, @Victoria_Carlin, thank you for your report. Could you, please, do the following:

  1. Follow this article and locate Roon logs from the affected iOS device
  2. Upload them here

We will take a look.

Thanks!

Done, thank you.

Thank you! We were able to reproduce this issue and a ticket for the dev team was created.

Thanks!

This is happening on my Mac too, you mentioned iOS device, but it is a general fix for all clients, right?

@RobOK, am I getting it right that you are seeing this crash on your MacOS machine when interacting with the “Select All” button? We have not seen this on macOS only on iOS clients so far

Thanks!

Sorry I might have replied to wrong note.

I was talking about where I accept changes and they don’t save to Tidal and then I get the same suggestions back.

I can’t answer for Ivan, but they’re working on my issue with improving/Tidal/syncing and trying to replicate it. I’ve been corresponding separately with Ivan.

Got it, thank you for the response, @RobOK, we are trying to reproduce this tidal sync inconsistency, will post an update when we succeed.

Thanks!

I did some playlist “improvements” and multiple actions – added songs to the Playlist on Tidal side, changed the playlist name on the Roon side. Changes are not replicating. Restarted Core. Tidal playlist has 1822 tracks, Roon has 1644. Names are different. Have tried to force the sync under settings. No luck.

Now this morning and another core restart, things seem to be syncing again.

So this comment got me thinking, if I was to have a playlist for all tracks in my Library, the ‘Improver’ would work on this and show me where there are alternate versions at a better bit and sampling rate.

Tried it - Playlist of just over 100,000 tracks created, but the Roon system couldn’t cope with this size of Playlist. My Roon server is on a ROCK based NUC7i7DNKE NUC (same board as a Gen2 Nucleus+)
Either the normal pages weren’t displayed, or the Core wouldn’t load on the Remote. Had to delete the Playlist to return the Roon environment back to normal.

You could do something like that such as a playlist for artist starting with A, then B, then C, etc. At least that way, you wouldn’t have to click on Versions for every single album in your library.

I shall wait for the product feature that works on a local library and compare it against a streaming service, i.e. the same algorithm applied to one’s library, whenever it is made available.
Nearly locking up my Roon core on a task it wasn’t completing was a scary moment.
