Description of the issue

i first noticed this in the linked issue above but figured it was a one-off, but i’ve been noticing it on more music. Specifically, a lot of bluegrass/folk/country seems to have this issue, which is a bit frustrating. The albums linked above are 3 from my morning listening, and they’re all pretty clearly far from pop/rock.

Pop/Rock genre is provided by the meta-data service Roon uses . “Sarah Jarosz Songs, Albums, Reviews, Bio & More | AllMusic” You will see they include “Pop/Rock” in their genre list for her

That meta-data service tends to list a wider range of music as Pop/Rock. For example, on the opposite end of the music spectrum, and also not Pop/Rock.

You can try setting Roon to NOT use Roon’s genre’s and only your file’s genres instead. If you look at the Import Settings Screen Default Genre settings are right at the top.

And how does that work with streaming content? All the examples from the OP are from Tidal not from local files.

Yea didnt notice that it was primarily streaming.

huh, that’s an… interesting choice on allmusic’s part :-/ it’d be nice to be able to just mask out that tag for all streaming stuff or something, seems like it’s not super useful as a category.

guess i should probably migrate this to feature requests then?
