Ummm, yeah. My system is in the living room…… My 5 year old ensures it mostly remains a mess. We’re renting while we sort out a new home build so things are a bit squished presently.
CD transport and CD’s in storage so currently streamed content only.
I was 17 when I heard the DQ-10’s. They got me into pursuing high-end audio. I was bored one day, so I decided to get the speakers that got me into this hobby, but had never owned.
They were a mess. 1 speaker was missing, just 2 of the remaining 4 were original. Found all original speakers, restored them, recapped and rewired the crossover, restored the wood and grill and walnut veneered the deck in back.
Added a REL Stentor sub base, a Nak Dragon, McIntosh SACD and Receiver, and presto a system that dates back up to 49 years ago. Sounds awesome.
Hi, that’s my listening room. Perhaps a little bit different due to the open baffles presence, as they need a lot of acoustic treatment in the room to offer the best capabilties. But after 7 years of hard work I think that I’ve reached the equilibrium between aesthetic and sound.
@Jim_F
This is a great idea. We need to focus more on the rooms our precious equipment is housed in. I will post pics when retuning from our glorious holiday in Portugal.
When I started dating my (now) wife, I purchased an LS50 wireless II kit for her home so we could enjoy music at her place. When I heard how much better that kit sounded in her home than the Sonus Fabers + Hegel 390 in my apartment, I knew it was time to take the relationship to the next level! She is a lovely as the acoustics in this long room with hardwood floors from the 1870s. The sub woofer tucks neatly behind the armoire without significant dead spaces like I had in my apartment’s square listening area. I also like that I can adjust for timing and dB in Roon to account for the speaker positioning offset. Happy holiday (listening)!
Hi Jim, Was a resident of Memphis for 46 years. But I’ve since retired and moved to a location that offers a little slower pace in lifestyle. But Memphis is where I was most influenced by music.
Upstairs in the living room is the non-critical listening roon set-up with a pair of KEF LS50WII with a pair of REL T9 subs, oppo 203 for disc playback…currently x-mas edition!
Downstairs is the “man cave”/theater room/critical 2-channel with a 5.4.4 atmos set-up for apple music and tv/music and then a 2 channel streaming with hqplayer, ultrarendu, RME ADI dac, anthem amp to the Goldenear Triton One.R’s all upsampled to DSD 256, another set of REL T9 subs…atmos speakers all KEF and rest of surround speakers all B/W 7 series. Oppo 205 for disc playback. Custom convolution files from various sources but mostly HAF. I rent now since move from West to East coast so somewhat limited in what I can do!
Everything served up via a sonictransporter i9 optical with ethernet to Eero mesh network endpoints/backhaul.
