Yes, the home was built in 1873. Certainly the first owner didn’t have speaker placement in mind but built a great room for listening none the less!
Thanks Mike - Great Question, but I will have to report back as I am not that far along just yet. I have a couple choices on turntables (Vintage / New) and have not made my mind up or connected any to date. I do like my Bass, but not overpowering so I am hoping for the best.
Nice set of photos showing the progression. This may sound strange but my favorite is the framing.
I enjoy walking through new builds before the wallboard is added to see how things are done. Is that a 2 by 8 or 2 by 10 wall behind the cabinet location?
That appears to be a large well built structure.
Some great places to listen here! New place for me - Roon is coming in over powerline ethernet adapter through Wiim pro plus into tape input of newly refurbished Marantz 2230. The space is very lively and the little Mark Audio drivers in the 1-liter cabinets are very fast.
This is my remodeled living room media space for home theater and music. The Media closet is climate controlled as well as the enclosed cabinet. Temp in the cabinet with the panels in place and glass door closed and equipment on and producing heat stays around 85 degrees. Rear door added to the closet for quick access when needed. With the 1’ deep hearth I had to build a sturdy platform to support the 6 to 8 hundred LB weight of the loaded cabinet when rolled out for servicing.
The speaker arrangement is 7.2.4 with 6 B&W towers for front side and rear. Subs front left and right rear. 4 ceiling height speakers. We enjoy it.
Are those walls stained OSB? Interesting look whatever it is.
Man, that is just too clean looking. My wife would not let me in there for fear I’d mess things up. Beau ti ful.

We arrived back at my 101 1/2 year old MIL’s home this afternoon. This is where I’m holed up for the next few weeks in a back bedroom.
Unfortunately, this is probably our last trip here to help take care of her. I think she only has a few days to a week left. We will miss her dearly.
So sorry to hear this Jim, but you must take comfort in knowing that your help and support has made her happy. Being there is very important, be strong and look after your wife; you are in my thoughts.
Cool stuff. Love the rack. I have mine hidden in the basement. A location my ‘interior designer’ bride ‘recommended’……lol.
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. Merry Christmas….
I have that exact rug. I think it is 17 years old.
Jim, it’s not done till it’s done… live life to the full. Blessings to you all.
Sending positive thoughts your way. ![]()
