Problem with DSD256 playback (Solved)

My configuration is:

Nucleus with Internal SSD and a second SSD through USB

The nucleus is connected through USB to a Prima Luna EVO 100 DAC

The systems has worked the last year properly and I mostly listen to DSD music. I have got about 1.200 DSD Albums.

My DAC is able to manage DSD up to 128, with Dop strategy.

The issue began with your last update. And the problem only occurs when I playback files in DSD 256 or more.

Until the last update, Roon downs the bit rate to DSD128, because is the bit rate my DAC can manage. Great!!!

But unfortunately, after the last update, when I playback DSD256 Roon, converts it to PCM176,4. This is very disappointing for me, because I really like de DSD sound much more than PCM.

I send you the path of a DSD256 reproduction, and the image of the DAC configuration in Roon. With this configuration the system works properly for a year.

I have a second equipment, with a roopiee and a topping DAC capable to manage DSD512, and there is no problem.

But in my principal equipment, I have de Issue I explained.

Can you help me with this issue.

Best regards

I don’t know why this is happening now if it was in fact working before.
(Your signal path makes a kind of sense as DSD128 via DoP requires a 352.8kHz PCM package and your DAC is limited to 192kHz PCM - I’m puzzled as to how a DAC limited to 192 PCM can manage DSD128 via DoP but I’m by no means an expert.)
Have you tried using DSP Sample Rate Conversion to convert DSD256 TO DSD128?
Does that work?

Also: It’s possible you may have accidentally enabled Sample Rate Conversion to some other setting.

Just a thought, I might be wrong. Did you enabled any DSP by mistake or forgot? Headroom, PeQ, etc

Thanks for your response.

I just tried to use DSP to convert DSD 256 to DSD 128 but the result did no was as I expected. Roon first converts DSD256 in to PCM, and then convert to DSD128. I want to avoid the PCM conversion.

It seems like in one on the latest Roon updates, the down sampling in DSD has changed form a down sampling of frequency to a conversion to PCM. I suppose there is a mistake.

I have no DSP conversion at all now in my configuration.

Thanks for your interest.

There is no DSP enable. I check it.

Enable “Native DSD Processing” in DSP engine, while keeping output as DoP.

In case your processing speed drops below 1.3, do not enable it.

Check what Peter said.
It’s something in your settings.
I can convert DSD256 to 128 without seeing PCM conversion.

Thanks all.

The problem is solved. The problem was in the configuration of DSP engine.

It is marvellous all the community helping.

King regards.
