Thanks for following up and letting us know your issue persists. Since the issue was temporarily resolved, how long was the timeline before you noticed the issue occurring again?
With that, are you currently using any third party security, antivirus, or VPN-related software? We’re seeing repeated 403 errors from your Roon Server diagnostic, which can typically mean that the server (Tidal’s image resource server in this case) is actively rejecting the request.
Does this happen no matter the remote device that you use?
Hi @Benjamin This only seems to happen on my Mac. I’ve got Nord VPN on it but I’m not usually connected to the VPN server though I do have their threat protection active. This helps block ads and such. I’ve just disabled all that security and re-stated the Roon Remote on my Mac and it seems to have resolved the issue temporarily. I really hope there another way of resolving it though as that software is pretty good at blocking ads and identifying security risks on websites.
Not very promising. You might want to consider alternatives. Currently your aware of the issue with Tidal. You might want to give some thought to whether you really want to place those backups at risk.
Absolutely none which I’m aware of but the two software’s presently conflict to some degree. The next build of Roon or possibly an update on the other end might make matters worse. The statement below is taken from the Roon Knowledgeable:
With any third-party security software, ensuring Roon has proper access to communicate with the other devices in your local setup is important. Below we’ll share a handful of popular antivirus options with links on how to manually add Roon as an exception.
In this case Roon can’t be added as an exception. Meaning that the support team in all likelihood not only is incapable of providing support, but unwilling to expend resources when users have been advised. This statement is advisory.
One other thing comes to mind. Have you checked your firewall "or rechecked it? Please make sure that these executables have access. If you notice any that don’t please advise.
@Singleton I’m using remote on macOS so no firewall, just FireVault which is only on or off. No exceptions option. Roon has full disk access. Though the Roon core is on a NUC running Rock.
I see. I’m amazed its as you’ve said so far. I can’t find any info on how to whitelist this app. First time I’ve heard of that in antivirus. There must be a way. Perhaps someone else knows or you can contact Nord.
@Singleton I’ve already spoken to Nord this morning. Currently no way of whitelisting anything. It’s not standard anti virus. It’s part of their VPN platform but can’t be used when not connected to a VPN. It’s very effective at blocking ads on websites and checking websites for security vulnerabilities.
