@Xavier_Hacquin, your image failed to upload. The point, @Suedkiez made is that the Nucleus does use a password for access or file shares.

There is no administrator user or password for the nucleus. The web interface requires nothing to access. To access its samba share to access music or system logs the user and password is guest . Nothing else on the device requires anything else.

Does not  except guest/guest for smb file share, at least from Mac

That must be a relatively new requirement; never had to on my departed MBP 2016. I stand corrected!

I seem to recall that I had to use guest/guest on my macOS when I connected to ROCK’s file share for the first time, and the documentation also says so. But anyway, the main point for @Xavier_Hacquin is that there is no administrator password for the Nucleus

Always been guest guest for as long as I have used ROCK on Mac or windows.

Well, I must be mistaken, but I stopped using macOS in 2019-2020.

@Xavier_Hacquin, please ignore our ramblings.

However, it would be really helpful if you could share some details of your problem.

Hello and thank you for following.

My environment:

My ROON CORE (Nucleusplus (first version with 2 Terra SSD) is connected to my local network in Ethernet via fixed Ip address (static)

EDGE Pro 8 router followed by an EdgeSwitch 24.

WFI network provided by UNIFI terminals

The Roon app periodically quits the connection with Roon Core.

After a quick message from the application telling me “waiting for Roon Core” it crashes and no more streams pass!

This happens both when playing Live Radio and a Qobuz playlist or an album from my library.

Then the application window remains frozen and displays 0 album, 0 artists

I was never able to use Roon Arc?? I can’t configure
?

If you can help me

This seems to be the login for SMB file sharing, when accessing the internal storage of the Nucleus. This should work by entering the username “guest” and the password “guest” as explained in the below link in SMB Connection (Alternate Option). You may have to select InvitĂ© in the login window as well, I think, instead of Utilisateur rĂ©fĂ©rencĂ©.

This is a second, different issue that probably is somehow related to the network, but maybe not only. Roon @support should be able to help here.

(I tried to move the thread to Nucleus Support but can’t because it shows me an error about “This topic has disallowed tags”, but I find no tags to remove. @moderators?)

Hi @Xavier_Hacquin,

We’ve parsed routine diagnostics from your Nucleus+ and found evidence of the following:

  1. Erroneous multicast traces likely arising from a known issue in Roon environments with 20+ Airplay endpoints

  2. Additional network dropouts likely arising from the way you’ve set up your LAN

  3. Port forwarding failures with ARC, probably a secondary symptom of the broader networking structural problems in 2) above

Concerning issue #1, we have a fix in place to be released in the next cyclical Roon update. You should see this issue resolve itself over the coming weeks after updating to the next available Roon build when it’s released to the public.

Concerning issue #2, we need to identify where packet loss is occurring on your network. It’s more than likely that the managed switch is involved. At your convenience, please answer the following to help us diagnose what’s wrong:

  • Where in your network have you hardwired the Nucleus+?
  • Do you have any additional routers in this setup, like a modem/router combination provided by your ISP? If so, you’ll need to create a manual port forwarding rule identical to the one you’ve already created.
  • Where are you connecting to the internet on your Remotes? Is is via an access point, or the main router’s WiFi?
  • Try troubleshooting without the managed switch in place, as it is possibly filtering out or rerouting essential communication between RoonServer, Roon Remote, and our own servers upstream.
