Describe the issue

Restore Backup from NAS failing on Mac Mini M4 after reinstall of Roon Server. First attempt was successful but then an uninstall / reinstall was necessary due to Roon 'deleting' my entire Qobuz library after the restore. A separate support request for this, see https://community.roonlabs.com/t/roon-server-on-mac-mini-m4-gradually-deleted-qobuz-library-after-local-storage-disabled-ref-okhrqf/286617

Describe your network setup

ASUS RT-AC86U wired ethernet to Mac Mini M4

(Deleted and moved to your other thread)

This is also strange.
Occurred after a successful Restore.

Nothing showing in Audio tab under settings.

Nothing??

Hi @Jack_O_Donoghue,
Thank you for reaching out to us about this issue.

I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.

However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.

First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.

Hi @daniel , please do enable diagnostics if not already?

I hope this will help with my other SR about Qobuz library deletion.

I can offer a timestamp now of the strange behaviour reversed (and another video!)

Many thanks

Hi @Jack_O_Donoghue ,

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Thanks @noris , this was also proposed as possible cause of 2 other SRs I raised. The setting was already enabled.

I will attempt the toggle and Mac restart now, and then see if I can reproduce the 2 others linked here:

Just to be sure, did you try this?

And then reboot. It’s a bit unclear what the mechanism is, but often it seems to help with connectivity to do the re-toggle and reboot.

Yes I did, toggle then restart.

Now I’ve also started seeing this…
https://community.roonlabs.com/t/qobuz-media-loading-slowly-error-and-music-dropouts-ref-wj7kf8/266758/17

All Components wired, mini M4, modern Asus router, Cambridge CXN streamer.

I have a hunch what might be causing this…

Does Roon server prioritise initial sync for ARC over playback to endpoints?
Or does Tailscale cause issues with Qobuz streaming to local endpoints?

I’d appreciate if support could inform or opine?

I want to use ARC
But I have a CGNAT ISP
so I Installed tailscale on the mini
And I launched initial sync to ARC on my mobile phone
Then I tried to play music on Cambridge CNX endpoint
… And this happened

I’ll be happy to raise another another support ticket for this if helpful?

Hey @Jack_O_Donoghue ,

If you try to disable tailscale, do the audio zones return? If these issues are related, it might be best to debug in this current thread. You may also want to try to set the current database aside and restore again by using the below instructions:

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup
  • Restore backup

Here is the process outlined from a macOS machine:
