Thanks for your reply. I actually only have one iPad in the house. I meant to say that this bug was present on all the different iPads models that I have used in the past. I even borrowed an iPad from work and it still does disappear every once in a while.
@Henry_Svendblad I have not been able to solve this even as I change iPad models and even updating to a new wifi router.
After Turning off the iPad for some time and turning it on again the iPad output device also disappeared here. Killing Roon on the iPad and restarting it brings back the iPad as output device.
But you can make the iPad Output device to be visible on other Roon clients
Open Roon on the iPad. Goto Settings/Audio. Touch the wheel symbol of the iPad Audio device and select âDevice setupâ. Turn off âPrivate Zoneâ and the iPad will also appear in Roon on your PC.
This setting shall also solve the invisibility issue in rooAIDJ
But all this has nothing at all to do with DSP settings
The disappearing iPad you are describing is exactly what Iâm experiencing, across multiple iPad models and also on multiple gens of iPhone as well.
Exactly the solution I require to bring back the iPad to the zones list. Iâm so glad I have confirmation Iâm not the only one this happens to . If I pause or stop play back on the remote iPad disappears from the list, again force quit and restart, very annoying!
I will try this when I get home. Thanks so much for your help.
Now I understand
The issue is, that the Roon Client at the iPad gets inactive if you run rooAIDJ. This is why you loose the playback zone.
This can be avoided if you run rooAIDJ in parallel with thr Roon Client on the iPad!
First start rooAIDJ on the iPad
On top in the middle you see three little dots. Touch them and select âSlide Overâ. Now you see rooAIDJ shifted to the right side of the screen.
Next open Roon Client. You now see rooAIDJ right on top of the Roon Client
Grab the rooAIDJ window at the top three dots and shift it to the left side.
Now you are able to use rooAIDJ in this little window while the Roon Client stays open. In this operation mode the iPad output will stay available for playback.
I tested your new solution and having both apps active seems to work. The iPad stays in the zones list and the rooAIDJ generated playlist are able to be transferred to Roon.
Hi DrCWO!
What a great enhancement to our Roonâs !
Quick question, reading your guide on DIY page of rooAIDJ, you specify us to use the Pi4 - but how much RAM does it need? I might want to add some more of your extensions later on, could we still make this work with the 1Gb RAM boards?
Thank you
Dear Sir, I am having a problem purchasing the licence for ROOAIDJ. I am a new owner of your ROOEXTEND box, just set it up today. The preloaded licences work fine for the time being (using ROO6D and ROOWATCH) however couldnât purchase the licence for the AIDJ, despite trying with 2 different accounts and 3 different credit cards. I got the same messages that the cards cannot be charged. I am certain that cards are working (tried on amazon just to confirm that they work). what may be the problem here? is it something to do with the sellcodes site? I am already worried that once the preloaded free period expires I will not be able to buy the licences and will not be able to use nothing at all. any help will be most welcome. Rgrds.
Hi @miguelito,
I too did not get a mail that something was sold.
This means for me that you did not buy anything. Would you please check your PayPal account and see if there is a record available about this purchase.
Hoping someone can help me - hit a snag and I am unable to find an answer. I just received my rooExtend yesterday, got my surface dial working, waited for the nightly firmware upgrade to v3.2.0 and got ROOAIDJ connected per the instructions here and ownerâs manual. ROOAIDJ shows it is connected to rooExtend - when I ask a question, I get an appropriate playlist back. Problem occurs when I hit âFast Playâ and select one of my zones it will tell me to âPlease prepare to play in Roonâ and âOK, playing your tracksâ but the tracks will not appear in either my ROOAIDJ queue or my Roon queue. Have deleted / reinstalled both ROOAIDJ and Roon apps and repeated install directions. Thank you.
@Richard_Ducci Hmm ⌠I just tried it myself and it works - but with a few glitches that I havenât seen before. My first query generated a list, but when I hit the Quick Play button it showed me my existing queue in Roon. The new songs it should have queued up were nowhere to be found. I cleared the queue in the Roon app, but then the Quick Play button just showed me a blank screen. I tried a different query, which worked normally. Listening to âtop hits from 1977â right now. Maybe thereâs some kind of connectivity problem today with the service? This all worked perfectly for me last week.
Thank you Brian - funnily enough, exact same thing just happened to me. I had it working this morning, then couldnât get it work as I described above just now and then it started working all of a sudden and I didnât really do anything differently than repeating the same steps above. Wondering if there is some service issue today anyone else experienced? Besides that, this is going to be a lot of fun to use once I have it working consistently - such a cool product!
