Description Of Issue
Roon doesn’t detect a lot of new albums and even when I force rescan, it doesn’t detect them. It’s very odd since it will detect in the same repertory an album an not the other one. Can you please help ?
Thank you for the answer. I did reboot the core and I can not be more specific with the folders name as I have thousands…The name are standard and all my music is stored on the Music folder of my Synology (with sub-folders by genre / composer / interpret).
Does your folder structure have folders that represent individual albums or boxsets? Roon is happiest at identifying individual albums when the folder structure is where a folder contains the tracks of the album, or boxsets when the folder structure follows these rules:
Because I added them to the folder, and checked the folder many time. They are in the folders but not on Roon.
How many are missing?
Can’t say but easily hundreds.
Are all your music folders/files is the same watched folder?
Yes.
What format are they ripped to?
Flac.
Is there any pattern that differentiates those listed by Roon and those not?
No. Sometimes it misses simple albums (Lou Reed’s one for exemple). Sometimes it misses a CD on a multi-CD Album (essentially classical music) : I am very careful when I rip and edit my metadata, so all the CD’s that compose a multi-cd Album are numbered on “Meta”; all the titles are exacts. Roon shouldn’t have any issue to find them.
After lot of iterations, I found a relative viable solution for the multi-disc albums : you have to put them in the same directory (even if it’s a mess), but you have to be careful that your the disc number of each CD is clearly identified in the metadata. It’s not perfect, and some CD’s appears detached from the album but it’s much better.
For single albums, I have no idea how to fixe that : they sometimes appears after few days and multiple “force scan”…But it’s too arbitrary to isolate a pattern.
@Muse thanks. My issue is this only changed with 1.8. I shouldn’t have to go back and change any metadata that worked before. But great tip and thanks for the info.
What kind of support is that ? 6 days and 9 posts without an answer ?
We are not asking for charity, we are not asking for volunteer help, you are asked to respect your contractuel obligations. What kind of company charges hundreds of euros for a software and doesn’t care about it reliability, or the legitimate expectation of it customers ?
If you are not willing to do your job, please refund us and keep your software.
The Support queue is very long at the moment, and the Support team is very small.
In the meantime, I notice that Roon knows about 5 different editions of the Complete String Quartets. You could try helping Roon to pick the right one by using the Album Editor in Roon and clicking the Identify Album button.
