Roon App Flickering Windows 10, With VPN On No Audio Devices Detected

Core Machine (Operating system/System info/Roon build number)

Windows 10 Roon 1.8 Build 756

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)

Ethernet, ExpressVPN

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

Description Of Issue

The Roon app is flickering. Sometimes it just happens without any movement from me with the mouse or keyboard, but sometimes it happens when I’m scrolling through tracks/albums. Its like a glitch/flicker that happens every so many seconds or so. How do I fix the issue?

Also, sometimes I use ExpressVPN split tunneling where I only enable certain apps to run through the VPN. Whenever the VPN is connected, Roon will say “No Audio devices detected” on my computer and I cant play any music with the app. It will only list the audio devices in my home network, like my Shield TV or Denon AVR player, but not the Focusrite right on my computer. As soon as I disable the VPN, then my computer audio devices show. If I put the roon app inside the split tunneling settings for expressvpn, then it will also see my computer audio devices.

I’m on the trial right now. Love the app but want to get rid of the flickering. If I can remove the flickering I will keep the subscription.

Hi @ChrisQobuz

Can you verify what kind of GPU your machine is using? If you update the graphics drivers are there any changes?

Support got back to me and my issue was resolved by starting the application with an argument nodeepcolor

Link to my fix is below. My graphics drivers were already updated, but didn’t fix it.

Thank you! This solved the issue I was having with my Nvidia card. Evidently it is not limited to Intel, as using -nodeepcolor solved the very annoying graphical glitches I was seeing as well.
