· Hello! I opened the apps on my windows 11 for a free trial ans every thing was fine. Since I sign for an subscription my apps refused to open. I deleted all and loaded the apps but a windows appear ... quit all instances... I don't know what it is... is it the music back up file that I should erase? Thank you! sorry for the text but I'm french.

Please first ensure that RoonServer.exe and related processes are safelisted in the Microsoft Defender firewall.

FAQ: Adding Roon as a Firewall Exception

Windows 11 Smart App Control can also interfere with Roon. If you have Smart App Control enabled, try disabling it temporarily and see if Roon can launch and connect to the server.

Nucleus rev-B from a friend or my new computer windows 11 for gaming

Thank you! very appreciate. Tracks number is not an issue for me. I’m looking for the better sound for transfer via my router. most part of my gear in streaming cost a lot and I don’t want my computer represent the weakness part of it. Regards

On your question about whether the Nucleus or your Windows PC will sound better: for network playback, it will not. Roon Server sends the audio to your streamer as data over your network, bit for bit. The bits that arrive are identical whichever machine sent them, and the digital to analogue conversion happens in your streamer, not in the server. So the server is not part of the sound in the way the rest of your chain is.

What the server does change is worth knowing, because it is where the real difference lies:

Reliability. A server that cannot keep up causes dropouts and stalls, which you certainly hear.

Responsiveness. Search, browsing and how quickly playback starts.

DSP headroom. If you ever want heavy upsampling, convolution or room correction, that needs processing power.

One exception, so we are not oversimplifying: if you were to connect a DAC directly to the server by USB, then the server’s electrical behavior can matter. That is a different situation from yours, where everything goes over the router.

So choose between the Nucleus and your PC on those grounds, on whether you want a quiet appliance that just works or a machine you also game on, and not on expected sound quality. You will not be giving anything up either way.
