· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· On trying to apply my own Star Rating to any album Roon closes I am using Mac OS Tahoe 26.4 on a M2 Max Mac Studio this has only recently started happening.

Tell us about your home network

· I only use a Desktop Headphone system

Hey @David_Hammond,

Thanks for writing in! If you could, please bring your Roon Server online and we’ll take a closer look at a fresh diagnostic report for additional information.

Thank you!

Online now

Correction it only happens on Albums that I haven’t already applied my own Star Rating to.

Hello @David_Hammond,

Thanks for waiting for a reply.

We’ve checked the diagnostics report and it was visible to us that the problem is very likely caused by a UI drawing issue.

Could we please ask you to go to the “Appearance” settings on your Mac and set the theme to default values, like this:

Please, let us know if that solves the problem.

Thanks.

Exactly the same with Appearance Dark, Liquid Glass Clear and Theme Multicolor.

and Text Highlight Color Automatic.

Hey @David_Hammond,

Thanks for giving that a try! Let’s see if refreshing your instance of Roon remote may help:

  • Exit out of Roon
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon”
  • Rename the “Roon” folder to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh install

Thank you!

@David_Hammond,

We are sorry to see that the earlier step did not help. Please also try redownloading Roon from

, then drag the Roon app to the Applications folder and replace the existing copy. After that, please clear the ~/Library/Roon/Cache/ folder.

Please let us know if that helps.

@David_Hammond ,

Can you please also clarify if you’re using any customized theme on your Roon installation ?

Thanks.

Yes I am using a Customised Themes because I do not like Roon’s default Dark or Light Themes and have been doing so for several years.

Your suggestion as follows:

Hey @David_Hammond,

Thanks for confirming that you are using a customized theme.

That lines up with what we were seeing in the diagnostics, and it does help narrow this down.

Roon was not able to handle the parameters of the custom theme correctly, which is what caused the crash when you applied a star rating to an album.

We do not manage third-party themes, so we cannot guarantee stability with them, even though you are free to keep using one. If stability is the priority, we recommend using Roon’s standard theme instead.

Thanks, and please let us know what you see from here.

that’s strange I have been using the same customised theme for a considerable time with absolutely no issues.

How about the Roon Team coming up with a nice pleasant to view Mid Tone Theme.

Kind Regards

Hi @David_Hammond,

You are more than welcome to search or create a feature request over in the Feedback > Feature Suggestions category on the community, as it’s actively monitored by Roon Staff.

They may have added something that is required and that your theme doesn’t contain yet. It happened with the latest 2.65: Another change to the theme file and a welcome bonus

I would compare the original theme file and yours with a diff tool, to find content that you might have to add to yours. (Or copy the new one and add your changes to this new copy).

There are various diff tools on all operating systems, or use an online one:

yes the Theme code has changed from being of 107 to 135 lines long and this happened a release version or two back. I am now running version 2.65 with my theme adapted to the new Colour File length of 135 lines for the Light Theme. This theme is of a Mid Tone and to me far more pleasing than Roons default Light or Dark Themes. I am a headphone user only so sit at my desk and in the evening or night it is far more pleasing to the eye.
