Roon Extension : RHEOS 2-way control & 192Hz/24bit Playback and Grouping on Denon/Marantz HEOS devices now in Extension Manager

Thought you might - old fashioned remotes are still nice for basic controls.

Are you running the container with restart unless stopped as an option? Occasional network errors etc will be covered by this - its the way extensions are set up in extension manager automatically and how most folks running docker extensions on a NAS have it configured - AFAIK.

I checked the setting ā€ženable auto-restartā€œ within the container manager. It was not enabled which I have done now. Do you mean this setting? Unfortenutaly I can not choose any parameters like -unless-stopped.

Good day! I noted today that the volume control is not working in Roon (it shows that it goes up or down), but it does not send the command to my Denon X3800. Any ideas what it could be? It has been working great until now

Restarting the extension and/or rebooting the device running the extension should fix this. If it recurs I may ask you to pull some log files and give me more details on your set up to help me diagnose.

Many thanks Peter. Restarting did the trick as you suggested.
I will let you know if this happens again and provide logs

Hello Peter, as mentioned on the support, moving the thread here:

  1. I got this morning the same issue back. No volume control possible and gets fixed by rebooting the RPi4.

  2. When using the Denon X3800 as an AirPlay output, when I try to change the volume, the playback pauses.

Let me know what logs would you like to see and how to pull them.

Many thanks!

Are you running from extension manager?

If so just switch on collect logs from the manager settings and send once the problem has occurred.

Are you switching between airplay and RHEOS to control - I am interested if that is causing an issue.

Can confirm the issue with playback stopping on volume change with Airplay.

Not sure if this is related to the recent changes in Airplay with the new ROON release.

Will update you on progress as I look what needs to be done.

Thanks for reporting the issue.

Yes, I’m using extension manager. I will enable the logs and if I see the volume issue again, I will share those.

Thanks for confirming the AirPlay issue. Any info you need, happy to support when I can

That’s only in EA though not general release?

Ah thanks. I though the latest release had corrected the issues and introduced Airplay2.

I’m not on the EA release - so I’m going to wait and see whether this is related to the general Airplay issues that were being reported. I’d suggest sticking to RHEOS or AIRPLAY and not switching between the two until I have this worked out.

I think the EA is meant to be fixing the issues…
I think it’s good to wait here until I can assess what may be needed.

The ā€žAutostartā€œ option seems to solve the issue. Now I can enjoy RHEOS with my two Marantz and one ClassĆ© unit with HEOS built in.

Thank You @peter_richardson. You deserve a medal, Masimo Consumer and Roon Labs not so much unfortenatuly in that manner.

First report of the classe being successfully used. Could you share details of the model - I’d like to explore what features it has. Thanks for sharing and glad it’s working.

Sure, it is the Delta PRE MKII and it works similary to the Marantz units with the setting ā€žpassthroughā€œ up until 192/24.

Do Classe use HEOS then?

They just launched what looks like a very nice preamp with HEOS built in, as Enno references.

Apparently they retrofit some of their older models too.

Are We talking about the volume issue? Is auto start the same as Auto Play?
