No - your volume issue related to knowing if its Airplay or Heos that is in use. The HEOS CLI doesn’t give feedcack and I have to explore better how to handle.
Autoplay is a delay that can be set for devices that power on (ie AVRs, Amps and Network Streamers) and take a while before they actually start playing. If you use the play button in HEOS (or RHEOS) you miss the first few seconds of the song - Autoplay helps.
I think however that Enno is referring to how we start a docker container. With the setting “restart-unless-stopped” the extension will recover from a network issue or similar. This is standard when you use the roon-extension manager.
One question - when playing a song my marantz display recognises the time played, but always titles the song “unknown”. Is there any fix for this or is it a natural limitation.
At present not possible but, if you set “Send Meta Data” to on in the extension → settings → UPnP settings this will display “Streaming from LMS” on your display.
@peter_richardson - hey, I have been buried in work for a while, finally coming up for air.
Seems this version is pretty stable based upon so little support issues the last month.
I wanted to ask if you or anyone sees this issue: Since I have been working so much, I actually have not used my heos or rheos system much… even in the office, as soon as i start it, i get another call and have to pause.
and this is the issue - after being paused for a while when i go to start music again and/or transfer the paused song/playlist to another device two things occur (the first one makes sense and dont think its an issue):
it wont play if the music is paused partially into the song - so i manually advance, then skip back to beginning and play - i think this is just caching with Tidal etc, so no worries
however, the volume control does not work - well 50/50 it does not work, the only solution is to restart the rheos docker image - then all is well…
anyone else having sporatic volume control issues using the windows or phone app directly? I have tried with two-way control on and no trying with it off…
rebooting what? rebooting the NAS doesnt make sense and its a critical infrastructure item in my home so it never gets restarted unless planned updates
stopping and starting docker, not sure that would help but again, i have critical dockers running as well…
what do you think gets fixed when bouncing docker or the NAS?
I realized I had already put in a feature to address this issue which relates to the HEOS system feeding back volume changes whether on airplay or RHEOS to both.
Look in the extension settings and you will see "turn off 2-way " control. That should fix it - but you wont be able top control some of the ROON features from the HEOS app.
More critical for me, is when playing on “Direct” mode, I keep losing the possibility of modifying volume (both up and down). Rebooting my RPi4 does the trick, as you suggested, but it is far from ideal.
If you have any idea what could be the reason, it would be great. Also, feel free to instruct me if you need extra info, logs, etc.
Thanks!
@peter_richardson noticing I can’t switch playback Airplay when trying to from another app. It seems to start Roon instead!!! Was trying Tidal over Airplay earlier to test something and it started Roon playing and would not switch. Got Tidal saying it could not play as Roon was playing. It wasn’t until I played via the Tidal app to the Marantz via Airplay.
I take it this is the two way control getting confused?
Airplay in Roon isn’t enabled this is from Tidal on my iPhone to the Marantz.
