I use Roon on my Mac Pro 2019
OS latest version. RAM 64 Gb, SSD 2T + Pegasus 8T
2 Apple Studio Display.
Roon remote control via Iphone and Ipad pro
Roon works all day and every day. But several times a day Roon freezes and I have to force the program to quit and then I have to restart it.
I have reinstalled Roon but it doesn’t change the problem.
I can’t find a solution!
Unless your already running RoonServer, Read up a little on this topic, all these users are on Apple silicon but it still, for the most part, applies to intel Mac as well.
It may solve your problems.
Energy Saver settings are also a culprit sometimes. If the Mac sleeps or drives sleep problems sometimes occur.
I’d try switching to RoonServer first though no matter what you do. If it’s a dedicated core machine, leave the Roon app you’re currently using but install the server app as well. You’ll have to clean out your old server folder after as I believe RoonServer uses a different directory for its files.
You need to scroll down further on the downloads page and you’ll see the options for server download.
I keep my core machine running 24/7 with an 8 disk thunderbolt enclosure attached, I use this script to prevent the drives from going to idle, it keeps the drives spinning and heads from parking Keep Drive Spinning. A bit more technical than just keeping the drive awake.
I think Roon support should fix the “template” to a be bit more specific as to the core/version info. It really should ask
