Roon menu partially blocked by persistent overlay (ref#XNNKE0)

ADDENDUM; This support request has nothing to do with Qobuz. It is about that huge gray overlay on the Roon menu page in my iOS Roon App. I cannot get it to go away.

Hello @Echolane,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon support.

Could you kindly log out of your Qobuz account and then check if the issue persists after doing so?

Please let us know the outcome so we can assist you further if needed.

For some reason there is confusion about this support request, which isn’t about Qobuz. Yes, I did submit a support request about Qobuz at about the same time, but it was a separate request, now resolved.

Please, kindly reread my support issue as this remains an ongoing issue.

Hi @Echolane,

To confirm, you’re only seeing this on your iPad, correct?

Do you have any specific screen settings enabled, like zoom or scaling? We’re not able to reproduce in house, so any settings you may have might help us here.

Thank you!

It is not a problem on my iPhone Roon App.

I do not even know how to set any special feature settings, so the answer to your question on zoom and scaling is No.

BTW, after rotating my iPad I touch the wheel on the upper left corner and I can see the far left column of settings lined up vertically on the left, though the overlay persists, still covering at least 2/3 of the screen. Note that it is now a different overlay!

Not using Roon any more, so can’t give you a screenshot of the relevant setting.
That said, it seems you’ve inadvertently checked a setting to always display that sidebar - find and disable that setting to do away with it.

@Echolane - I think @Marin_Weigel has put their finger on the issue. You’ll find the setting on Roon’s :gear: > General screen:

I thought it was about the red Qobuz warning overlay because I couldn’t conceive of the left sidebar  Sorry.

There is no topic that has the word sidebar in it on my copy of Roon software, which is up to date.

Correct. This option only exists either on devices whose screen is wide enough or on PC, I don’t know which one it is. Then you can choose to always display it. I don’t have the option in the settings on my iPad Pro 12.9“ either (but do have it on macOS 13“ MacBook Air).

On iPad it is supposed to work like this:

Display sidebar by tapping the hamburger menu, top left:

If you then tap literally anything else, it should go away again. E.g., tapping anything in the sidebar, like Albums, Artists, etc.

Gone:

But should also disappear if you tap anywhere in the area that’s not covered by the sidebar:

Gone again:

Now I am really confused. I’m not sure we are talking about the same problem.
I don’t have a problem displaying the Sidebar. I have a problem with the overlay that hides the full menu of which the Sidebar is just the first column. The Settings page should look like this:

The overlay changes depending on what I travel to looking for my next music choice.

So to summarize, the overlay is a problem because it hides the full menu page. I consider it a bug. It is certainly not typical of my previous experience. The only way I can get rid of the overlay, and that’s only temporarily, is to change to portrait mode and touch the wheel in the upper left area left area. Then I can see the full menu. The overlay is only a problem when I want to access Settings, meaning it only overlays Sertings.

I am also confused. What do you mean by „overlay“?

Are you talking about this? I changed my theme to Light to make it look the same as your screen:

This part is normally just greyed out as long as the sidebar is displayed. If you close the sidebar (by tapping anywhere in the greyed out area or any item in the sidebar), the greyed-out area should lighten up again:

I think what you are terming the “overlay” is actually the underlying screen. The main Roon menu and the Settings menu are overlays - and should cover the underlying screen.

So I think what you are saying is that the Settings menu is displayed, but when you choose a Settings option, the option screen is not displaying, leaving the original screen underneath still showing?

So for example, when you choose :gear: > Storage, you see the Settings menu, but not the Storage screen (outlined in red in this screenshot), but the orignal underlying section of the Roon screen?

Does this persist even after you reboot your iPad?

I’ll try to explain this again.
When I want to go to the Settings Menu which I recently did because I was trying to log into Qobuz, I found a page that looked like this:

THIS IS CORRECT. And I had no difficulty finding the Services option that took me to a page where I could attempt to log into Qobuz.

Notice please that the Menu Selections on the left side panel under Settings are GENERAL, STORAGE, SERVICES.etc.

But now, when I want to go to the Settings Menu, I see this instead:

This page is CORRUPTED, no longer displaying the Settings Menu in the left side panel and most of the page is obscured by an “overlay” which has nothing to do with the Settings menu.
I do not know any other word to call this overlay. but it is not supposed to be there when I ask for the settings menu.

As I have tried to explain, I cannot get rid of this corrupted page when I attempt to go to Settings. Please find a way to get me the correct Settings page when I ask for it.
I hope this is clearer now.

The page you are showing is not the „Qobuz settings“ page. It is the Qobuz start page. It is empty because there is something wrong with your Qobuz account and it is greyed as long as the side menue is active. Tap the little cog wheel on the top of the side menue, select services and the see what is wrong with Qobuz. Probably just renew your login.

Please go to :gear:> Services, click on the Qobuz Edit button and then click on the Logout button on the pop-up Qobuz screen.

That should log you out of the Qobuz integration in Roon.

Does the issue then get resolved? If so, then the issue is being caused by some problem with the Qobuz integration in Roon. I know that you have a separate support request on this, and that there seems to have been a change in Roon - because Qobuz 60 day trials offered by Roon Labs are supposed to work. You also said that you ended up with a 30 day trial instead of the full 60 days - and I’m wondering if that lies at the heart of this issue; perhaps 30 day trials still don’t work with Roon?

Anyway, please try logging out of Qobuz and if this resolves the issue, post in your other support thread that there is an issue with the 30 day trial and ask Support why you got the 30 day trial instead of the full 60 day trial…

The issue has nothing whatsoever to do with Qobuz. One overlay just happened to pertain to Qobuz because that was where I was when I went to Settings. The overlay appears based on whatever was the last page I visited on Roon. Specifically, if I played a Korngold Violin concerto and then went to Settings, the overlay would reflect the Korngold music, not Qobuz.as you can see in the screenshot below:

And here is a screen shot that show I am logged out of Qobuz.

OK - I was just trying to rule out possibilities.

You keep saying it’s an “overlay”, but what I think you are experiencing is that the Settings menu and its screens is the overlay - and this is not appearing when you touch the :gear: - is this the case?

Or the main menu simply not collapsing/going away as it should?
